Drove an SRT-10!
One of the installation people that works for me told me that his brother works for a Dodge dealership and has one on order. He said it was suppose to be delivered in December.
I can't wait to see those things show up at the track and watch the owners face when my Lightning blows his doors off.
There sure are going to be alot of pizzed off truck owners when they realize they paid 45k for a truck that is still second to Ford.
Rocks

I think the SRT-10 is going to be a nice truck. The only problem I see is trying to launch a perfomance vehicle @ 5500 lbs with a clutch, performance gearing, and 500 lb/ft of torque. I Guarantee the accident rate will be higher with the SRT-10 than the L. Once you get that much mass out of line, it ain't gonna be easy to pull in in without fishtailing. I can't even imagine what it would be like in the rain?
Before I speak my mind, keep in mind that I owned a mildly-modded high 12-second Lightning for almost 3 years, and loved every minute of it. The only reason I sold it is because I moved to San Diego, and couldn't afford rent without letting it go. However, online poker has been good to me lately, and I'm heavily considering buying another one shortly. Anyway, on with the show...
I have all the respect in the world for you guys that have spent the money and done the work to get your truck to run in the 11's and low 12's...BUT, I think a lot of you are post-dating checks that your trucks won't be able to cash.
Before some of you start talking the smack, keep in mind that many of the people who buy SRT-10's will quickly mod them just as we/you have. Yes, the truck WILL cost $20k more than ours off the showroom floor...but I have yet to race at a drag strip that segregates vehicles based upon how much you have invested.
If someone has $50k to drop on a STOCK SRT-10 (that will most likely be a 2nd or 3rd vehicle), then what makes you think they won't have a extra $10-15k to spend on mods like you guys do?
Sure, a Lightning will probably be faster stock vs. stock, and even for $3-5k in mods...but once you start going much beyond that threshold, I think you're gonna find that you're not quite as talkative anymore. We've all seen or heard about the Hennessey Venoms with turbos or superchargers producing 800-1,000hp....no, they're not cheap...but they ARE do-able. Drop those type of mods on an SRT-10, figure out a way to bold on slicks and do all the other "little" things, find someone who can launch and drive stick, and you're talking about a nasty fast truck that would EARN anyone's respect...even though it is a Dodge.
Like I said, I'm not a troll from another message board trying to start a war, I'm just the "Ghost of Races Future".
Take it easy.

I can't wait to read the compliants on the dodge boards on how many drivers are missing third gear with that long AZZ shifter. Just my observation after viewing the interior pictures.
#1, The truck is nose heavy and light in the rear. Traction is going to be a huge problem.
#2, By the time the dodge ram aftermarket parts get developed the Gen 3 Lightning will be making it's debute. The gen 2 will due just fine against a SRT RAM.
#3, Reality! How many are going to risk the warranty on a $45K truck? Not the average owner of one. What's the price of a new viper engine these days? I don't see the average SRT RAM owner adding much more than a K&N and traction mods. Get denied a new viper engine and you now have $55K+ in a truck.
A heavy truck + driver having to shift gears + a light rear is going to give SRT drivers on the track/street a hard time trying to keep it in one lane.
In my opinion the DCX V.P that said the SRT will out perform the Lightning is going to eat his words. Dodge fell short of their performance target. I hear that ugly azz rear spoiler isn't functional until the truck hits 115+mph. I know an engineer at DCX.
I also hear PVO isn't happy with it's performance numbers. They want more time. Management is pushed to get it out the door...
Let's see if this truck makes it on the cover of Car & Driver....

the SRT-10 will impress and unfortunately embarrass some L owners.
C'mon 500hp v 380 hp?
while we have a supercharger, they have 2 extra cylinders!
I'll run everyone I can but I know I'll lose to some!
I won't care losing to something that cost $15k more than mine and put out 120 more HP!

The weight to power calculation puts the truck in the 13's. It's 300lbs more than our trucks. Put gas in at 7lbs per gallon and the weight of the driver. It's a pig!! It needs to be shifted. The average driver isn't going to be as good as John Force!
The L already has the advantage when the dodge hit's the street...
