Talking Got Me A Lightning Today!!!!!

Well I finally got a DSG L today I'd me damned if that isn't the funnest truck to drive and that whine is sweet to hear!!!
Now I have to find a way to keep my foot off the gas to break it in properly.
Now for mods. I plan on keeping it simple for now so whats the best mod to start with?

Anyways, the L is sweet as hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Theres only one good way to break it in proper, lots of rpm variation, that means get on that pedal and get on it hard.

Me to, on the interstate comeing home I stayed between 65 and 80 mph. Only got on it a few times but not over 4 grand.

BTW the saleman told me to stay out of it until 1500 miles for proper break in.

really really

when you break in an engine, you want to push it through a lot of rpm cycles. What breaking is really about is making your piston seals good. Only way to do that is with combustion pressure. What you want to avoid is long runs at the same rpm, and you want to do alot of good hard runs, although i would personally avoid hard wot runs. If you were stick down hardshifts are supposed to be good for break in too.

If you baby it all the time you'll be at 10k with zero break in and you'll won't be as fast as you could be.

the current school of thought on breaking in newer vehicles is to drive it like you normally would. so don't go crazy on it if you are a very conservative driver, and vice versa. just give it a cautious break in for about 500 miles, and make sure between 500-1000 miles to put synthetic in there. good luck, and congrats with a beautiful new DSG L!

When I drove it off the lot it had 30 miles on it. Thats with a 10 mile test drive and the dealer going down the road a few miles to fill it up. Now it has 100 miles and will put another 100 on it tommarrow. I do alot of driving around between my job and doing other things.

So it will break in quickly.

Nice, I will post some pics tommarrow. I didn't have time today because I had to take some slow back roads coming home due to a chemical fire from a tanker truck on I-24. I bearly got to work in time.

Congrats on the new L. My advice is drive it like you stole it. All kidding aside, I ask that same question last December and someone posted a link to a sight that talked about break in.

It basicly said that break in had to do with the sealing of the piston rings and that most of that happens within the first 100 miles or so.

Rocks

Tell the dealer: "Blow ME!" If they will let that slide on this website. I clearly meant blow your non-synthetic oil away to a oil recyclable center.

First off, synthetic is definatley better. Like vettes I think require synthetic. And synthetic won't destroy your engine.

And if after changing your oil to synthetic and the engine happens to explode after the test drive of the new oil, just drain the oil on the side of the road and spend 3 bucks on 6 liters of oil and fill er up!

Thats right! Synthetic voiding the warranty is RIDICULOUS! Reguardless, on the impossible chance, I say **** over Ford! What are they going to do? Void my non-existent warranty on the engine with what they would call "non-kosher" modifications?

Damn good idea. Lets put modifications into categories of kosher and non-kosher!

Um.... if I had any point to this post...
When you are in the dealership for anything, they will not test (or to the furthest of my recollection) or have anything to test the quality of oil.

Also, despite what is said, I can't believe that they would void the warranty by purchasing the expensive and proven to be better quality of oil.

your engine won't let you do anything it shouldn't be able to. I said personally no wot, just some high rpm runs, up to you tho. Some guys take the engine to the track in the first 100 miles, i imagine thats probably not a bad thing.
