OK, I was just checking.

About the track the nearest one is like over 3 hours away in Bowling Green. Im not driving that far anytime soon, unless Nashville has a track.

i use mobil 1, and if im not mistaken the 5.4 is stated at holding 6.7 qt's, but putting 6.5 should be fine, thats what i did when i changed my oil, this is assuming that you change your filter...

I took mine for a 1100 mile drive from the dealer to break it in!

After a few hours of varying speeds, I threw in a few WOTS (Just to seat the rings of course). After I got it home, the rest of the week's routine was warm it up good-- not just the engine, but the tranny, shocks, everything -- then drive it like a bat out of hell! After that, I changed the oil often, but stayed with mineral oil until about 5000 miles. Since then it's been Mobil 1 all the way.

Go with 6 quarts of oil maximum when you change oil and filter! (Note your dip stick is NOT accurate!!!) While there are many oil filters out there I think most/many here go with the (stock) Motorcraft FL 820S oil filter. For your fuel filter most go with the Motorcraft FG 986B fuel filter... As for oil, I suggest you research the archives here. As for me I use Mobile 1 5W-30 full synthetic. I switched to the full synthetic in my '03L at 3,000 miles. I did a regular dino oil change at 1,000 miles. OH, research here about how and when you change your fuel filter. You will need to get a special tool that is inexpensive.

This is my 3rd day of having the L and already have almost 350 miles on it. I had to take it back to the dealer today to have them fix a rattle under the truck. Turned out to be the exhaust was rubbing againts something.

The truck is running great. Now I need to figure out what mods to do first.
