Question Where to get a good deal on a new Lightning?

Hey, newbie here, I am looking into trading in my '02 T/A WS6 on a new Lightning. After three months with the General's product i can no longer overlook any of its shortcomings. Unfortunately i don't have much, if any equity in my car, MAYBE $2000 at the most. I live in Kansas City, MO, i went to a couple dealerships today, found a used '01 for 26,000, and the second dealership had an '03 that has been sitting in the back of the lot for about 3 months. I really think that the 33,310 sticker price is a litle high unless the dealership can cut me a killer deal, and/or there are some incentives of any kind on the truck. So my question is if anyone knows of any dealerships that might give a fairly good deal on a new Lightning, wth VERY low APR? What kind of deals did any of you Lightning owners get when you bought yours? I am guessing that if the price of used Lightning's is anything like the one i did look at today then going new may be a better idea since i can get it over a longer term for lower APR. Any tips on how to talk a dealership down to a good price, or any ideas on how low a dealership may go? Tanks in advance guys, i appreciate the help.

-Brad

You should be able to get an 03 leftover for about $29k and some change with the rebate and all. Check some dealers on ebay or autotrader. I wouldn't pay sticker.

i wouldn't pay sticker either, but (and this is in CT) there are NO incentives on SVT vehicles (except focus) and in addition to that because the L is considered a "special limited production vehicle" there is no 0% financing or even anything close....i had to swallow my pride and deal with 5.5%....and that's with a stellar credit score from a third party bank.....shop around though, you may get lucky....

I'd drive out of state to buy one. There isn't much to do about the interest rate, I guess it's what you are approved for.

I'd drive a day or even two to save a few thousand dollars!

Ditto that! Any leftover should be under $30k. If indeed it has sat in the back of the lot for that long, they're going to want to get rid of it.

Don't let the sticker scare you away. I didn't think there was any way I could get the deal I got on mine new ($27k and change albeit for a few hail dents...).

Tell them the price you want to pay, but be prepared to walk when they try to "insult" you with some ridiculous offer.

Maybe this helps? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2438240641
I'm pretty sure they might have others, they have a Harley on eBay too.

I ditto what 99svtlightning said. When I bought mine 3 months ago I ended up going a little over 2 hrs away and 2 states to get mine. I started checking all the online services (cars.com, autobytel.com, etc..) and found a 2001 with 11000 miles on it for what I felt was a good price and cheaper than anything I could find in the local area. Good luck in your search.

Thanks for the advice guys. I am going to go to a few of the dealerships that still have 03's and see what they will do for me. All i really have to worry about is getting enough out of my trade to pay it off, thats going to be the hard part. Again, thanks guys, keep the good info coming!
