Question Help needed mounting Expy console!

So I've got everything I need for the console.

My seat is out being cut at the shop.

I dig through the B-quiet sound deadener and find all of the holes...

And they are smooth. (no threads)

Do I need to tap them? Is this just some wierd thing about my truck? Did I find the wrong holes?

yeah, if I remeber right I had to tap 2 or 3 of my holes. no big deal at all though. Just run down to autozone and get the appropriate tap.

Just use whatever bolt you are going to use (I used one of the seatbelt bolts) and tap it with that... It's a hardened bolt and will go right through that crap they put in those hole locations.

Stock bolts are self tapping, just send em on through and you will be good.

Parts

I finally stubled on a console.

Why do you need a new rug?

I just cut mine.

I got my console as a new unit from Mark @ LFP. He put together a kit with all the brackets/screws/covers/etc.

If you mind sharing how much was the kit? I might just buy it from him instead of having to go and search at some junkyards for one that is clean enougth to be allowed in my truck.

honestly I don't remember off hand as it took several trips to get all the parts. When I did it Mark was considering putting together a kit. Since I was local it made sense and he cut me a deal on everything. It did take a few trips for us to work out exactly all the part numbers needed. Some parts include others and some do not. Just give him a call or shoot him an email and I'm sure he can send you a quote. I can say this though, if you can find one in a junkyard, it will be much cheaper. These are new Ford parts and are not cheap by any means.

good luck

kit...

Yeah Mark was putting together a kit, and I was waiting for it when this console fell into my lap. It turned out to be a great deal...

BTW: Tapped the holes with the screws, cut through the metal like butter....
