Kenne Bell - Daily Driver set up

I am thinking about getting the Kenne Bell blower. I am not looking for maximum performance because I use the L as a daily dirver (20k per year). How much boost can the stock engine take and about how much power will I get assuming I leave the rest of my 2000 L stock( It has a new 2002 motor with8 thread heads).

Dan also has longtubes and a properly dynotuned chip and 255 lph fuel pumps. Duty cycle of his injectors was 100% open.... hes been driving it, no problems for at least 6 months now...

I have a KB running around 15-16PSI. I don't drive it everyday but it does get driven. KB had been on for the last 2,000-3,000 miles or so and I have had no problems. I have 55LB injectors and a Pro-M 92MM MAF sensor also. The truck was driven to the track 100 miles away this weekend, had the rear tires changed and ran three 11 Second passes at full wieght and on a safe street tune, then had the tires changed back and was driven home another 100 miles. I can't complain about that. If you are worried, just set the boost to a more conservative(sp) 12-13PSI. Or you can go built and have no worries at all. Best of luck if you decide on an aftermarket blower. -Mat-

Believe it or not boost is just one of the factors. Your tune is undoubtedly the most important in my opinion.

I have been as high as 17lbs (before I went with the full header/ high flow cats/ cat back system from REM) to my present 16lbs (yep lost one lb) I am producing 496 hp/ 562 torque. I have maxed the stock injectors with my curent list of mods for the engine. And keep in mind my engine hasn't even broken in yet, 2000 miles.

My current tuner, whom I respect took my expectations seriously and kept me in the so called safe range. My tune is with a Diablo Revolutions chip, 14 degrees timing, out of the gate my a/f is hot in the 14's, but I very quickly drop and level to 12.1.

Speaking for myself I am completly satisfied with my tune, streetability and power output. I am at the same stage where I am looking for max on the street, leaving some room for growth.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a KB, but I have the intention of growing my L into a 10 sec truck (as the budget permits of course). And the growth potential of the KB is what influenced my decision to buy it. And yes she has a stock block.

Good Luck!

I hope I didn't mislead - my L is not currently a 10 second L. I am only planning on eventually getting there.

With all the advice I have been given (and mods made as a result of that advice) from the pros on our form I should be running mid to high 11's right now and that will be on 93 octane. I am still contemplating my slick and rim set up and should have those by Xmas. I plan on my first run to be in January once the hot temps cool down here in Florida.

God Grant me patience and I WANT IT RIGHT NOW! I can't wait to get my baby on a track!

This is what I have done to date as it strictly relates to engine mods:

KB
2lb upper riechard racing pulley
metco idler
6lb lower JLP pulley
gator belt
Beru silverstone S1K's
Cobra dual 255lb fuel pumps
JLP ram air
JLP thundertube
Accufab single blade
Ported plenum
Diablo Revolutions chip
Dynatech long tubes
High flow cats
Magnaflow single cat back
Fluidyne heat exchanger
oil separator

More mods, but they relate to traction, safety and cosmetics

Guys thanks for the input. I think the conservative 12-13 pounds SVT F150 suggested may be the ticket. I want this thing to hold together, I am already a little concerned about my trans.. It seems to take a little longer to shift than it used to. Any idea on what type of power the KB will develop @ 12-13 psi?

Also, I have been following a lot of threads related to the KB and was wondering if it has the same initial off the line boost as the Eaton?
