Thumbs up FFW E-Town Results

SO it was real nice weather today...upper 50's, low humidity. My first pass was a 12.06 @112.98, a new best. I was hoping for that elusive 11, but the temps got higher and I started hot lapping so it never came. I guess I am in the position Rob02 was in...always a brides maid but never a bride.

Anyway, the Lightnings were in the "Ford Truck" class today. Mrinaldi borrowed my wasted F1's because his were like "Maypops" (May pop now, may pop later, bur definitely gonna pop). Long story short, Mike made it 6 rounds up against all guys with slicks and actually won the finals!!!! The semis were against JL's wife's truck, and the finals were against Mark on slicks. The entire time Mike was complaining how his truck was running like crap, but he was running within .04 of his dial in EVERY pass.

Oh, and in the finals he actually cut a 1.86 (60' time) on the F1's. Nice! This is done without any kind of traction device. Good Job Mike!

Mike (blueballz) it was cool seeing you again, Vinny good meeting you, Al (Trashguy) I have one of your runs on tape, email me if you want it.

Congrats Mrinaldi, You deserve it.

I went out the first. I ran a 12.06 on a 12.00 dial w/a .106 light and still lost ( oh well) .

yysenhimer,
You will get that 11 second pass. the weather is getting better everyday.
I am in the same boat. I ran a 11.08,11.07,11.03.

Our times will come

Yeah, I'll tell ya, I never expected to make it all the way to the finals.....I really was the picture of consistency today...I dialed at 12.70, full street trim, and was within 4 hundreths of that dial all night.....I actually did break out on one pass by 3 hundreths, but my opponent broke out by 5 hundreths, so I got the win....Crazy....Like you said...1.86 on F1's with no traction devices was incredible....My baby definetely deserves some treatment tomorrow...Maybe a nice wash and a Zaino.....We'll see.......

V,

Yeah, it will come, prolly when we go to Atco. I'm pissed off I can't make it to Cecil, I'll be in Vegas for that. BTW, I have your truck taped, but it was only an 11.96. It looked good though.

Mike,

You forgot to say "It was on a conservative tune". J/K I know that the 12.70's were no big deal. Hey my truck needs special treatment too...how about you Zaino my truck after you do yours?

Thanks Rob,

I was looking forward to meeting you down there today You know, I said I had something up my sleeve, but it didn't work. All it did was made my truck start pinging. Even with that, I still ran a 12.24 @98.91 mph after I let off. The 1/8 mile time was quicker than my 12.06 run so I was convinced that it was my 11 sec pass.

I was a little pissed but I figured it was better than blowing it up.

Nice runs, guys. Congrats, Mike, you bum. Sounds like you had a good day. I got your messages, Paul. I didn't get them until after 10PM so I didn't bother calling back.

Hmmm. I wonder if I had walked up to RJ's if I would have seen a black and a silver Lightning?

I definitely need some Zaino (and track) time. I haven't done either since July. Haven't even washed my truck since then.

Catch you later.

Hey Paul, that 11 sec run is right around the corner, I ran a bunch of 12.0X, before I broke thru. I guess its just the Lightning Gods making you pay your dues

Ya us old people got to rest for a few days after a day at the races, sorry I couldn't come back for the weekend, I would have liked to have met You too.
And DITTO on NOT BLOWING IT UP, thats why I didn't make other pass. It's time to do a VB Mod and new Bars before I go again.
I DO NOT feel comfortable seeing 6K on Juice before shifting,
the Tranny simply can't take the Torque without a VB firming the shifts and it's currently going past my shift points to what I feel is
DANGEROUS. I got what I went for, and called it a day myself.

Nice. Very nice indeed. If you put that in the bed you'll be able to pull a 1.7 60' next time.

Yestreday, I really learned how to get that thing out of the hole....It used to kill me to come out at idle because I always felt like it was really killing the short times.....But everytime I came out at 1000rpm or better, the tires would just go up in smoke, and I'd end up with a 2.2x short time or worse...So last night I made up my mind to come out at idle every time, and it really worked.....Every short time was between 1.86 and 1.94...I am defenitely happy....

No guys...we didn't go to RJ's afterwards, we went to some place by the track with blueballz, his father, and Vinny.

I gotta say though, having a line lock really makes a huge difference on the burnout. Everyone knows my John Force burnouts. Well, now I still the place out, but the burnouts are like half as long and my rear wheels are clean on the inside. on the line lock. 1.70 - 1.73 short times all day.

Speaking of long burnouts, did anybody stay for the burnout contest? A JLO member entered. I forget his name, but it is the blue L with the lightning bolts along the sides of his truck. He obviously didn't have a line lock because after the 1 minute burnout was done, his rotors were glowing red and finally caught some stuff on fire back there. After everybody was yelling, the idiot Raceway Park staff finally got a fire extinguisher and put it out. Those calipers must have welded themselves to the rotors after they cooled. Believe it or not, he didn't win.
