Getting Through The First 60 Ft

Anyone ever have a problem getting through the first 60 ft with slicks? My mods are in my sig and I've been running e/t streets at the track the last couple times I've been out. I have not been able to pull below a 2.0 60 ft and I've been trying everything I can think of with no success. And then it hit me, I noticed that the truck kinda felt like it would "pop up" at launch giving the impression that the slicks were doing their jobs. But directly after the launch it just didn't feel like the truck was moving forward with enough power, could it be that the truck just doesn't have the torque to hook up that quickly and still get through the first 60 ft?

maybe your slicks are spinning on the rim?

It's a common problem if the track isn't prepped real well. I'd try putting the air pressure around 16psi and doing a decent burnout. Spin once in the waterbox and pull out about a foot away from it. Spin your tires for about 5 full seconds...you can try counting it out. When you are done your burnout, ride it out under power. Don't just let off. Go straight to staging and don't burn out or dry hop anymore. If you have a convertor, try flashing it up higher. For a 2400-2600, try holding it at around 2200. For a stock convertor, just launch from idle. When you launch, don't just floor it. You can test the track by slowly easing into it. I've had my best 60' time by easing into the throttle progressively.

Also, you can use some window chalk to mark your rim and tire to see if it's spinning on the rim. You make get a little movement, but you shouldn't get much.

I have your exact problem... although I have been cutting 1.91 60's... we should be at 1.81 60'..
16 psi is no good... 17 has worked the best for me so far.

What are we doing wrong?????????

Great idea! I dont' think that they're spinning on the rim but I can't be sure so next time out I'll make a couple marks. I've run my e/t streets anywhere from 14-18 psi, with anywhere from short to long burnous, and anywhere from idle to 2000 rpm launches. It just feels like the truck bogs down a little bit after the initial launch and then gets its power back as it gets moving again. I usually pull in the water box and then pull out and roast the damn slicks till I feel like they're as sticky as I can get them and still, 2.1 or 2.0 60 ft times.....
All these times were pulled at Carlsbad Dirtway, and track prep during test and tune isn't one of their strong points

I think that may be your problem. Come out to Irwindale with us some thursday night (you can miss your class because your *sick* ) and you will definately get better than a 2.0 60ft with your et streets.

I've cut a 1.96 on F1's there, and I think we pretty much have the same mods minus the slicks and traction bars.
