could my heavy aftermarket hood make my truck feel so much different?

I had to take my new hood back to the paint shop for some rework. I put the stock hood back on and it feels like a different truck. The stock hood feels like it weighs 20-25 lbs. The aftermarket steel hood weighs more than twice that....at least it feels like it does. After putting the stock hood back on it just drives better. Is that even possible?

No! It's all in your head.

But then, you could always do a "blind" test to find out for sure.

Have some buddies blindfold you and then sit you down someplace for an hour while they install "hood #1." Then they could come get you, sit you in the driver's seat and have you drive around to get the feel of hood #1. Repeat for hood #2 and try to determine if there was a difference between the two. Then take blindfold off and see if you're right.

Of course, using the blindfold test method, many drivers seldom get to "hood #2."

I would think it is possible that it may be slightly lowering your front, maybe the added weight coud be felt if you notice small changes.... I know I notice ANY change no matter how small...especially with the suspension ... you will get used to it, then it wont be noticable

An extra 30-40# up high on the nose of a truck will make a bigger difference than you think in the handling of your truck. Up high at the ends of the vehicle are the worst places to add weight.

i realize that the styling of the oem hood is not to everyones favor. But it is the lightest of ALL the hoods even the CF ones. And being up so high does affect the handling of the vehicle.Stan
