There is more to just being Snell approved. A motorcycle helmet have a Snell MXX rating and NHRA approved helmet has a Snell SAXX rating. (XX would be a number from 99 - 03 for year approved as an example.)
A motorcycle helmet will work if nobody is really checking at the track, but then again it's your head.
Jeg's has helmets at a reasonable price and ship quickly.
