I have a 00 L, am thinking about changing the driveshaft to that of the 01-03 (aluminum driveshaft) Is this a bad idea, or is this worth doing?

It's fine if you really want too. How ever, you will need a drive shaft loop and traction bars for safety.

IMO, The stock 99 and 00 steel driveshaft are better for thier strength.

I have a 2000L and put an aluminum shaft in but I also added a loop and traction bars for the axle wrap. Axle wrap will destroy these aluminum shafts. I think they are worth it, they are lighter and will help with launching but you will need a loop and bars to keep the axle wrap under controll.
