Many run 4lb pulleys wo chips
HOWEVER
my famous line is -->WHY WOULD YOU WAN'T TO ???

A chip is the L's single most performance giving Mod we have
availble to us. With a Chip Filter + Pulley, your looking at 35-50 HP. Plus you get to dump that horrible Rev Limiter, change you shift points to where they belong, shut off the Torque Reduction,
Add Timing and Power, correct the A/F for optimal performance
with the Pulley, and much more .....

So to answer you question, ya you can do it,
but you truly should be changing the plugs and chipping it
if you want safety and optimal performance from that pulley

Im not running any of my chips right now, I have my 2#er on with no problems at all....havent had a chip on for about 2-3 months now. If your going to do a 4#er I would change out the plugs. I bought a set of NGK TR-6 plugs recently, Im going to put them in when I hit the Bradenton track in november sometime...I will be adding a 2# upper, or changing to a 4# lower by then.

You should come out and race with us sometime, being your local and all....

A Chip is not needed to run a pulley, I ran my truck 02 Lightning for 15,000 miles with a 6lb pulley and no chip. I ran it in temps ranging from -25 degrees to 110 degrees. I never had detonation and never even changed my stock plugs. I checked my timing with a Ford Scan Tool, my timing was at 12 degrees and a/f ratios on the dyno were around 12.4. It wasnt until just a few weeks ago that I got a reflashed computer, I have since dyno'd as well as monitor timing with the same Ford Scan tool. Guess what ? My reflash has a more agressive program than the stock tune had. My timing is now at 17 degrees and A/F was lowered to 12:1. My truck dyno'd at 405/520, a chip will enhance your performance but it is not needed when adding a pulley. Do a search on NLOC, there is a post where at least 20 guys say they run a pulley and no chip. Some had detonation with chips, when they pulled the chip the trucks had no detonation. Do what you want becuase its your truck but do be fooled by all the people screaming that you will blow up without a chip.

I was gonna go to that show last week I think it was, or maybe the week before...but it rained so I said screw it.

Me and George usually go to the Ronnie Setser show off Dale Mabry and Flecher...its in the mission bell plaza by checkers.

As far as racing goes... I usually like going on thursday nights during winter, sometimes saturday morning is nice. Every now and again they have the "Club Street Racing" thing going on there... the tree goes from red directly to green, and there are lots of imports and HS kids to embarass themselves...its fun all in all

George usually posts when he is going on the FLA site...
