Spark Blowout

Has anyonce experienced spark blowout(not sure of the tech term). Too much gap and the spark gets blown out? Im thinking that MAY be my problem of the truck dying randomly. I dont remember what I gapped my plugs at but Im changing them soon and will probly go with a .38 gap (15psi). Does that seem good?

I have mine gapped at .36 w/ a 6# lower seems to run pretty good. The only thing is that it seems to idle kind of rough.

I have experienced gap blowout with my Cobra. Always ran fine on the lower end, but at high rpm's, the engine would miss and stumble. I would recommend a gap of .36

Yes you will hear people talk about too wide a gap
causing the spark to become weak.
WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY GAPPED AT ?

I use Denso IT-22's gapped @ .038 - .040
I run 8 differant Combo's/Race set ups

4lb With Nitrous, with Mild Timing, and also with High Timing
6lb With Nitrous, with Mild Timing, and also with High Timing
4lb Without Nitrous, with Mild Timing, and also with High Timing
6lb Without Nitrous, with Mild Timing, and also with High Timing

Mine performs flawlessly for each and every combo
Idles awesome too, but then again, Denso's are known for that.

I recently had the same problem with my IT-20s. I replaced them with TR6s the other day and gapped them at .036. I checked the Densos when I took them out and they were gapped at .040 with a couple probably at .041 or .042. No problem since.

I had the problem and gapped my IT24's at .28. It runs fine and strong with that gap.

What are the symptoms of spark plug blow out? Do you get a back fire or a pop because of the excess fuel left in the cylinder or is it just a stumble?
