garage floor paint?

I want to paint my garage floor with epoxy coating. I would really like to do the black and white checkered but I will probably just do a single color. Anyone have some thoughts on the very best coating to use? Was thinking of useing Petra. or Behr. If you don't use a really good product the hot tires will screw up the finish.

Be very sure that there is no moisture coming up through your floor. Also, seal the cracks. No matter what the manufaturers claim, if water comes up through the cement floor it delaminate your surface.

Here is my Dad's Garage, it is black and white ceramic tile. looks great, but it does get a little slick if fluids get on it. Plus he get kinda upset if I get tranny oil on it.

James, that is my dream garage!

I want a hydraulic lift and a high ceiling and the checkered black and white flooring looks real nice too. Nice pics.

Awesome garage! Now if you just had room for a king size bed, a refrigerator and a big screen tv you'd have the ultimate living quarters.

yeah Its got to be so much easier doing a lot of things standing up than on your back, or sitting down. I want a lift so I dont have to bend down any more. Again, nice garage man!

I can tell what not to use, Home Depot's - Behr product for the floor. It is a one step process and although it is really easy a friend of mine did his garage and six months later it was cracking and peeling. And yes he followed the instructions exactly.

I second that. Home Depot, Home Base stuff is not even close to worth it. Home Depot etc try to sell there stuff based on easy prep. However to do it right you must etch the cement with muratic acid or bead blast it, otherwise the paint won't stick.. Trust me I learned the hard way.

I used the paint from Griots Garage. They have a web site. I'm sure that it's not there own paint, just rebadged stuff but nevertheless works great. It's been down two years and I've only got two minor chips. No tire pick up at all. It really keeps the dust down in the house too.

I used a 2 part epoxy but it did not last. Hot tires will seem to lift anything, including that epoxy. In one spot it actually lifted a patch of concrete. I'm really leaning towards the black and white tile myself. Nothing else lasts.

There is a rubber tile that is recognizable because it has raised circles the size of a silver dollar. I have seen it in stadiums, gyms and commercial applications where there is major foot traffic.

Would a tire turning in place lift one of those tiles?
