I don't hate GM cars and trucks, but has been my experience that a lot (not all) Vette drivers are old, balding, and convinced they are the sh$t.
I have 4 cars now and I could buy a Vette, but the groups who seem to drive them are not the kind of guys and girls you can see in a parking lot and go over and BS with.
Vette people bug me because they often think what they have is the best thing on the road. The 3 Vette's I have gotten to race I have spanked. Most are to old, afraid, or think they are to cool to race.
Just my take. And just so everyone knows I am not jealous and I am not 20 something.

I have an 03 Z06. In June of this year I leased an 03 Lightning.
I had been wanting a Lightning for a couple of years. I love it.
It's the first new Ford product I've ever had. Only have 2000 miles on it but so far it's been awesome. I haven't taken it to Milan yet but there's still a few weeks left.

"I can't buy a Ford based on sheer principle." WTF is up with that>??? I have a GM product and am looking for another one right now. When I bought my Cobra, if I really wanted to I could have bought Vette, but did I>??? Nope. I feel the Cobra is a much better all around car. They wanna talk about handling, I can dump a couple bucks on my suspension and run circles around them. But do I care>??? Nope. Like what was said already. They think they are all high and mighty because they own a Vette. How lame is that>??? Very. Some of them are cool, but a lot of them are tools. -Mat-

I try to stay away from the whole "Vette owners suck" attitude. I have met some fantastic Vette owners over the years while I also have met some real Ahole Ford people. Point is that there are bad apples in every bunch, and I just appreciate all performance enthusiasts-blue oval or not.
Side note: When comparing Ford's flagship sports car (Cobra) to Chevy's flagship sports car (Z06) I dont think theres much to argue as to which platform is more capable-and Im not talking about the whole "well give me $1500.00 in aftermarket parts and Ill beat a Z06" argument. On the SS vs Lightning comparo, theres really no question either when comparing performance-the L is the King.
I also agree that it is ridiculous to not buy something based on a Bowtie or Die mentality....

I have owned both vehicles, and bluntly - they both kick a$$! It really is that simple.
Ask yourself - why did I buy my L? And in that answer you will find the reason other opinions don't hold the weight you allow them too.

These posts leave alot unsaid usualy. Performance in the 1/8 or1/4 is comporable but otherwise (in the city) the corvett is much sexier. Wher i come from the lightning is much sexier. If you drive a corvett where i'm from you are percieved as better than everyone, or you are a doctor. The truck is is what girls like (or anyone else for that matter). Nothing against the corvett, its all about what you like. Nothing more. If i was given a choice between both for free I would still take the truck.

I am a Chevy guy at heart but am not the type to hate any manufacturer. I love all makes as long as they appeal to me.
Some of these guys make me ashamed to be a Chevy guy. What a bunch of misinformed idiots.

i am also a chevy guy at heart. i have a 67 nova ss prostreet and a 71 chevy cheyenne pickup. i love them all. but when i saw the lightning i fell in love with it and just had to get one!

I posted on Corvetteforum for 2yrs and I liked my vette and it was fast!!!
My bald spot grew back, my ***** got bigger and I lost my gold chains when I bought the Lightning though... and for the most part everyone that I know who owns a vette thinks thier the fastest thing on the road .... which makes them by far the funnest kills.(I ran a nice looking C-5 6-speed here in Texas between stop lights on U.S. HWY 281 sunday morning, 0-90 before we shut down for the next light. He could not pass me...he
gave a thumbs up and looked surprised.

First of all, where the **** are you gonna drive 170mph on the street anyway. All the fun in street driving is at the lights and the L is king hands down. Even on the highway, with all the traffic around here, i'm lucky to get up to 100. On the way down and back from JDM, was the fastest i've had to drive my truck. It was midnight and no one was on the highway, to keep us entertained, we just kept doing 120mph + fly byes on one another.
All I know is for 60k, i sure hope my vehicle would be able to beat a 5k pound pickup truck.
Sure was nice last week to go up the track and pull off a couple 12.8 passes at about 4860lbs, then hit home depot on the way home for a couple 5gal buckets of driveway sealer and applicators. Let's see Mr. Vette do that
When the Gen3's come out, some of these guys will be loosing even more hair (sorry for the the pun, but i got a kick out of it from the corvette post, plus you guys like to pick on us youngens
)

Vettes and Lightnings are totally different vehicles.In my area, You get alot more looks in a lightning and alot more curiosity from people.If I wanted a true sports car,The vette would be in the top 3 of my choices.As far as trucks are concerned.I belive the Lightnings are just so damn classy,fun to drive,fast and functional.Not many vehicles (especially) trucks can you go to home depot ,the drag strip,a wedding or an extremley fancy restuarant and be able to hold your head up high equally.To this day i get questions and compliments on my lightning.As much as i do like vettes,Everybody knows what they are and dont hold as special respect or recognance as they deseve.With all the new RX-8 350Z and a few others,There are MORE special cars out than there has been for 30 yeas or better.We should all be thankful car companies are still trying to please us with as little these type of vehicles are sold in comparison.Thats why i hold such high respect for anybody driving a "special" vehicle whether it ne a new srt-4/lancer,rx-8,350Z .It us who keep this niche alive .PEACE
