New guy with a couple of questions
New guy with a couple of questions
Hey All........
I have been hanging around here for a coulpe of months now and got a ton of information from all of you, so I just wanted to say thanks. Well, finally got the truck........its a 2001 Silver #644 of 6381 out of the Ontario plant. The truck has been modded so that is what most of my questions are about. First of all I was told it had a 14lb pulley on it(I am assuming same as a 6lb lower) the lower pulley measures about 9 inches and the top 3 inches. Does that sound about right to you guys? Next......I was also given a dyno sheet that is as follows: max hp was 419.6 and max torque was 504.7 Air fuel ratio is around 16.5 from 2500 rpms to 3600 rpms and then drops down to 13.5 at around 4000 rpms then drops a little more to 12 around 5300 rpms. I plan on getting the thing dynoed in the near future with a safe tune. I just dont really know where its stands right now? Also the truck has aftermarket throttlebody, intake, MAF, and K@N. Also headers and a catback system. I'm not really sure what kind of chip it has either. Oh yea..........since everybody else always asks this ........What do you guys think its good for in the 1/8 and the 1/4? Thanks in advance for any help. Sorry for the long post. Oh and one more thing. If there are any guys around the Virginia are there any functions that you guys attend around here?
Thanks again guys,
Chris

Get us some pics so we can see what you have
Also get the A/F down to a 12 then you be safe. Now that it is getting cooler take it easy till you get a chip reburn
What kind of chip is it??

Looks way to lean under 3500 rpms, and still to lean after that.
Thats one scairy tune
I would get some one like JDM, JLP, PSP to burn you a chip
I am partial to JDM, but the other guys are great too.
Don,
That's what I was affraid of. I guess I will be taking it easy for a while. Sorry about the mess up on the picture post. Are any of those guys close to VA or are you just talking ordering a pre-done chip?
Thanks,
Chris

Baker750,
Where in Va do you live? I'm in central VA in Charlottesville and own a stock 2000 Silver L. There are a bunch of guys in C'ville who own L's - ST.ELMO'SFIRE who's a member here owns a modded red 2000 L and there's another guy Mike who drives a modded silver 2000 L.
If I go to the track I head up to Summerduck just past Culpeper and do some 1/8 mile runs.
Feel free to shoot me an e-mail at chiketkd@yahoo.com

Crazy Lean would be more like it (if those A/F's are correct)
Holy Schitt
On a differant note:
CONGRATS on the purchase of your Beast
Best of Luck, AND WELCOME
BTW
With that set up, you should be able to run a High 11,
You got a nice HP/Torque number there.
9" is a 6lb lower, 2.93 is the stock Upper
Look under the glove compartment at the computer
and tell us what chip is in there.
Right here:

It's the sideways box right on top of the light.
You can't see my chip because Diablo goes inside,
but others stick out and you can see it.
There's only a few people I know that would tune
it that lean, and I thought even they calmed down
with those lean tunes. If you don't know what tunes
are on it, and for what octane, I strongly recommend
going easy til it's checked.
But on another note: You should know,
(There is a good chance that A/F is no where near
correct, if they simply shoved it up the exhuast)
Lots of Dyno's give false A/F's if it's not done correctly.
Quite frankly I don't think the Motor would hold together
if it's been running that lean for long, so I wouldn't
worry too much, but I would stay out of WOT til checked.

Thanks Rob,
I will check the chip in the morning. I really think maybe your right about the A/F being checked up the tailpipe. The truck runs great. Im definately not an expert and cant tell if its running lean but I have run the truck pretty hard a couple of times already and like you said it probably would have let go by now. Nevertheless, I am gonna get it checked ASAP. The only tuner I know about in the area is the poeple who did the original. Excessive Motorsports East. From what you guys are saying about they way they tuned it maybe I should steer clear. Anyways here is a picture of the truck.......
Thanks again,
Chris

I checked out the chip this morning and its a diablosport chip. I didn't see any exterior wiring from the computer and no visible switchs. I guess its just the one with one program in it. The dyno sheets have December 7, 2002 on them so I would assume that the chip has been in there since then. Anyway just wanted to let you guys know.
Thanks,
Chris
Thanks,
Chris
She's a Beauty Chris
Looks like the rear is sitting nice and level too,
must have shackles or some kind of slight drop
I wouldn't worry too much Bro
I zoomed in and lightened the pic,
from what I can see they're actually quite black inside. (like mine)
People will tell you that always doesn't tell the story,
but if it is black, (like I think I see) YOUR FINE.
If it was as lean as that Dyno showed, the inside of the tips
wouldn't be showing soo rich

Just get it checked out, and yes if you don't have any wires coming out of it like mine,
then it's prob is a single program chip.
Fear not though, a good tune is fine for both
street and strip.

Thanks Chike!..........Can't wait to hook up and see what she will do at the Duck.
Hey Rob......Thanks to you too for the complement!
I went by the place that did all the mods and the dynotune on my truck today. Guy told me that the truck is solid he even remembered my dyno numbers........They did tell me that the wideband was hooked up though the tailpipes?????
Maybe your right Rob that is why my A/F is whacky.........I was actually studying the dyno sheet last night and it is only really lean from 3000 to 3800 and after that its slowly dropping to safe levels. Anyways just wanted to give yall an up date on the situation. I'm still gonna put it on the dyno soon to see where it stands......Maybe its worth a trip up to Pennsylvania to get it JLP tuned HUH............
Thanks guys
Chris
