Bottoming

Question...

Truck is perfect for Scottsdale. 3-5 drop with shackels, hangers, control arms, 1 inch lowering springs. I am just disappointed because I went to LA and the truck was almost undrivable because of the bad streets. Another thing is that I can never put anything in the back because then it just bottoms out all the time.

Do they make a shackel that can bring it up an inch? Right now I have western chassis parts? (I'm out of adjustment on current shackels and hangers)

Has anyone cut the frame to allow more travel, how was it?

What can I do?

And If I raise it an inch do I need the wedges for the drive shaft?

Does anyone else get frustrated with this problem?

HELP

Have you considered helper airbags for the rear? That will help with the load carrying capacity anyway.

I'll have to check my notes but I believe they were for a '68 Camaro. Almost a direct bolt on except I had to drill out the lower mounting holes from 12mm to 1/2".

I am a little lower than you (4-6) so double check the length.

I have a flip kit and a "C" section.

Have you trimmed or put shorter bump stops on? Sometimes you can gain at least an extra inch of travel by doing so.

Yeap, I trimmed those, there is basically no bump stop. If I were to pay for the instalation of the c-notch how much would that be? Can you screw up the frame.

Does anyone know a good shop in Phoenix AZ, or Los Angeles?

The "C" notch is not difficult to install. Be sure to support the frame rigidly in front of and behind the cut point until it is installed and at least bolted. Then weld it as well to be sure it doesn't move.

I could have had mine installed here for $125.00 (1 1/4 hrs labor) but opted to do it myself.

I would think in Phoenix it would be more like $100.00 plus the kit.
