I had the same problem when I pulled the plugs out of my '02 with 17000 miles on it. I had white deposit on #3 and #7. I went to Fun Ford so JDM could look at the plugs and they said it looked like oil got in there at one time, but it should be fine...they said to pull the new plugs after a get a couple thousand miles on them and see if everything is ok.

sorry for the delay guys. Well my truck has 14,500 miles on it and yes it does spit black smoke out of the exhaust sometimes and yes it does seem to burn a lot of oil. Actually just a couple of weeks ago i wrote a post called insane oil burning. My truck seemed to be 2 quartz low on oil.

I'm not exactly sure about piston slap but my truck does make an exhaust leak sound coming from the exhaust area. The higher the RPM's go the faster the ticking goes. I took it in to get it checked out and they said there was no leak. Just about 200 miles ago i added a 6lb puley the new BR7 plugs and the new chip. I actually put some loctite on the new plugs just so they wouldnt come loose.

By the way the plugs dont have any holes in them it is just a whole lot of deposit added to the plug. What is wrong with my truck? Do i have internal engine problems? What should i do?

so you took an oil burning engine with bad plugs and put an extra 6 lbs of boost on it? In california? with 91 octane? And to top it all off you loctited your plugs into your head? I would take those out asap if you can, im not sure how fuse they will be but if i had a guess . .. how much are new heads anyway?

Im not even sure what to say anymore.

well it wasn't super loctite it was the blue one which i am sure should come loose relatively easy. Yes i threw 6 more lbs of boost on an oil burning engine, but i just found out how bad it was burning oil.

Do i pull all the mods and take it back?

How much oil are you burning, a quart every _____ miles.

I don't know man, i would have fixed the pinging issue first, because its a sign of a greater problem, which i would be very interested in fixing before i put my engine through the vigors of an additional 6 lbs of boost.

Btw: locktite does not belong on your plugs, im not sure how strong it will be, but your asking to strip threads when you remove it.

well my truck seemed to burn about ane and a half quarts in the period of about 2000 miles. Yeah i'm probably going to try to pull the plugs as soon as possible. i was just too worried about blowing a plug that is why i loctited them.

Well i told the dealer that my truck was pinging they said they needed to hear it as if they didnt believe me that it was pinging, but i really didnt wasnt to take them on a wot run through 3rd maybe even 4th gear.

You need to get those plugs out; locktite is not what you want.

What kind of race gas did you use?

loctite will melt due to the heat, it probably isnt there anymore. put your stock stuff back on and take it to the dealership and make sure they see the plugs. tell them to look at the plugs and see how fouled they are, now see if they will tell you that oil burning is normal... obviously there is a messed up ring or seal or gasket or something.

so a little more than 2 quarts every 3000 miles? Jesus. And you didn't think that maybe this would be a problem? I mean this could be something simple, like a pcv that needs replacing, but it could also be a whole other set of things, none of the ones im thinking about are nice.

Ok if it were me, i would take (or tow) my truck to either a dealer or a reputable tuner, tell them everything that happened, and have them do what they can with it. If you take it to a dealer and your under warrety, put it to stock then take it. Honestly, i don't want to tell you anything, because i don't want you doing anything to harm your engine with anything i would tell you.

really? i didnt know that, i thought it was supposed to be very heat resistant I was thinking he probably heated up and cooled off and fused the plugs into the head with that stuff, but i dont have much experience with it so i don't know. Good info.

whenever i take the truck to the dealer they always want to see the problem or hear the problem as if i'm an idiot and i dont know what i'm talking about.

I guess i just need to show them the plugs above and then see what they have to say about it. should i just keep the BR7's in when i take the truck to them or should i put some stock type plugs in.

What do you guys think?

well that depends on the dealership. if they arent very mod friendly then i would put them back in. or you could tell them that you had to change the plugs to get it to start because they were too fowled. just make sure you de-pulley and de-chip it if it is. whatever you do throw those damn plugs in their face and tell them to tell you that they arent fowled. dealerships are morons most of the time, so the plugs are your proof of a bad problem, use them.

as far as the loctite, i believe that the melting point is well below combustion temps, but i could be wrong

Returning the truck back to stock might be a waste of time, chances are they'll have someone look it over to see if there has been a chip or any other mod on the truck. It's not easy to spot and SVT is cracking down as far as warranty work goes...if it were me I would just take it to the dealer and say, "Here are my old plugs; how can you fix it?" But either way, make sure somebody looks it over.

Who is tuning your truck? Byron? Let me know how the tuning goes and if it still pings when you get it back.
