170* Thermostat information

I installed my 170* Stant thermostat yesterday. I used the handy multifunction odometer display to record before and after coolant temperature readings. The readings on the display are in deg celcius, but the numbers below have been converted to farenheit.

Stock thermostat: 190 - 194
170* Stant: 176 - 180
-----------------------------------------
DIFFERENCE: -14 degrees

As indicated, both stats allow the same amount of variance (4*) but the 170* stat holds the actual temperature much closer to it's advertised temp. Almost looks like the stock stat should have a rating closer to 190* instead of 180*.

I would also like to add that if you are goint to change your thermostat and plan to drain some coolant, make sure you drain the radiator and not the intercooler

Just press and hold the odo button, crank your truck, and release the button when the diplay says "test". Press the button to scroll thru different readings. The coolant temp says "degC---" where the --- is replaced by the temp reading in celcuis.
