Installing center console
Installing center console
OK, so I think I've got everything....
What all has to be done to actually put the center console in?
I'm guessing:
punch a hole through the carpet for the new passenger archor position.
punch 4 holes through the carpet for the console anchors
Slip the console onto the anchors, attach screws in rear.
I think I'm missing the screws to attach the console archors to the floor boards. Are they standard screws? or only Ford parts?
Anything else I should watch out for?

Coldie,
You will need to pull up the carpet to remove the large rubber plugs Ford previously installed in the unused floorpan holes. The console brackets (if that is what you are calling anchors) are held in with 10 and 12 mm screws if I rememeber right. 2 of each required, same threads as seat bolts removed from passenger seat. Standard metric hex bolts from a hardware store will work. I cut a small circular piece of carpet from a scrap I had and used it to even out where the large hole was cut in the factory rug at one of the two rear bracket holes. You may also want to reroute your CD changer wires over to your console while the rug is up, if you intend on relocating it. It is much easier to use in the console. I also had to obtain a longer 10 mm screw for the left front passenger bucket seat, as the one that was removed was not long enough for the new seat bracket foot. Hope this helps.
