Flowmaster?
I don't have one on my L, but I do have one on my 2000 F150 5.4 4x4....I also exited the exhaust just in front of the passenger side rear tire....It is a single in/dual out flowmaster....It sounds very throaty, and deep....I have gotten compliments on it, and I like the way it sounds....
I have dual flowmasters, it plenty loud and sounds very nice at low rpms.. I think it could sound better at WOT though, I may be changing to a Magnaflow setup soon... I want some shiney tips anyhow
Here's a link with price and part #.

I'm not pro or con to it since I've never really heard it on an L before. I went with the Magnaflow single muffler setup, but I did briefly consider this one.

forget the FM cat back, just do the mufflers and stock tips...the tips they sell with the cat back are fugly as all hell. Its cheaper to do just mufflers anyhow...or you can always buy a set of nice tips to have welded on... I dont know what a single FM will sound like, but two of them is just about right for me...not too loud, but very agressive sounding.

the first exhaust mod i did to the truck was flowmaster mufflers. they sounded pretty good in my opinion. nice rumble and they were loud as hell at WOT. most lightning guys told me to trash them because they sucked. well, i thought they sounded good. since then i have changed them out but it was a cheap way to get the truck to have some tone to it.
Forget the Flowmasters, go straight pipes!! If you want LOUD, straights are calling your name. For me it was $20 for pipe, a little elbow grease and some help from a friend and it was done. But they do drone @ 2k rpms and you have to yell at your passenger, so what ever you choose I hope you enjoy it
I've had both the single Flowmaster and single Magnaflow.
The Flow stayed on about a week before I had it replaced with a Magnaflow. The Flow sounds good until you go heavy into the throttle. After this it sounds like air rushing out of a small hole from an air hose or a old big block engine with a small single exhaust. This is a clear sign of a restriction in the exhaust. I felt it on the top end of the power band too.
I went to another muffler shop and they told me about the Magnaflow with the straight thru design and built in X pipe. I had them install one and it sounded great all the way through the PRM range.
This was over 3 years ago before Magnaflow was know as one of the best mufflers to use on an L.
If you do go with Flowmasters use 2 mufflers and don't forget use an H or X pipe.

I had a couple flows on my truck for a while and I loved them. They gave it that big block sound that I was looking for over stock. They were extremely loud at WOT and I learned this by racing one of my friends when he was on my passenger side......he said it sounded like a jet engine roaring by him. I have since switched to the magnaflow because truth be knownst the flowmasters do rop you of some power, but as soon as I put the new magnaflow catback on I instantly felt an increase in power so go figure
