Went to the track and got a new best. Gained 3 mph with a $10 mod ;)

After the install of the Airaid intake system I felt like I lost some of my top end so I went to the track to see on paper. Sure enough I was trapping at low low 104mph or high 103mph. Best of the day was 12.88@104mph. Before the intake I trapped at 105mph or high 104mph.

I figured even though this is a sealed unit hot air is still getting in through all the openings in the box. So I went to Home Depot and bought $10 worth of stuff. A heater duct, 3" dryer hose and a couple of adapters.

I mounted the heater duct under the truck to catch air as the speed goes up. Then attached the heater hose to it and routed it up to the airaid air box. I drilled a 3" hole in the bottom of the box and using the adapers I bought I attached the dryer hose from the heater duct to the air box. So basically I am forcing fresh air into the air box for the filter so suck in. The only draw back is the filter get dirty fast So I go to the track to see if my theory was correct and lucky for me he had very similar weather.

My 60 foots remained at 1.77's or so but my ET's and traps improved by a good margin.

Forst run was a 12.6@107mph

I ran five runs and got 3 12.6's and 2 12.7's all between 106 and 107mph

Man $600 worth of mods and mid 12's out of a 5000 pound truck. You gotta love it.

I have some vids that I will try and post.

Could you give us a short list of your mods so far? Your combination certainly seems to be running well.

Sure...

1) JLP 6# lower Pulley
2) Diablo Chip tuned by JLP
3) Denso IT 22's gapped at .038
4) Airaid intake with custom cold air set up

I am also using 28x10.5x16 Hoosier QTP but in all honesty thats more due to the fact that I cant afford to replace the Goodyears every 3 months

I use to get 1.82-1.87 60 foots of the F1's and not get 1.77 60 foots on the Hoosiers so they helped a bit for sure.

Also I was very concerned about reliability when I first started modding so I contacted Johnny and JLP and told him I drive the truck everyday and want a tune on the mild side he worked with me and tuned the diablo ship with a conservative tune for saftey. I am running very rich and the timing is not crazy. I would rather run 3 tenths slower and keep my motor

I agree with you on that, I would also rather run slower and keep the motor together. I also requested a conservative tune when I had my computer reflashed by BOP, and went to the dyno and was very satisfied with the results.

Good Luck to you!!
