Question A little smoke ok?

The other night I was cruising on the interstate, and punched it a little to avoid being cut off by slower moving traffic. As I was accelerating, I noticed a puff of smoke coming out of the pipes because another vehicles headlights behind me illuminated it. I have never noticed it during the daytime, so its not thick smoke or anything. My truck has 2000 miles on it, no mods and runs great. Is a little smoke OK? Is this because of the forged pistons? What are some causes of this? Your input is appreciated.

You might need a new set of rings. Just keep a check on your oil.

You have absolutely nothing to worry about. These trucks run pig rich. That is what you saw. Anytime you punch it at night with headlights behind you you will see what looks like the exhaust trail of a F-16 behind you. It's just the signature of raw power

They all do this. If you are running on the rich side, which you should be, it will emit some smoke at WOT. Also, you may get some carbon if you haven't floored it in a while.

Mine does the same thing, get the tips all cleaned, then get the urge to lay into the pedal and look back and see smoke in the headlights of the cars behind...Then i get home and see the insides of my tips are black again.....

This is absolutely NORMAL. You have nothing to worry about. I ASSURE you there is NOTHING wrong with your rings. As is stated above, that is just the unburned fuel exiting your tailpipes. It's all good

Later,
Rob

It's probably extra fuel but it may be unwanted(but common!) engine oil that has puddled in the upper intake--or a combo of both......................
