Help with Feul filter

Hey everyone, i am planning on changing my feul filter in the next couple of days and was wondering if anyone could give me instructions on how to change it. I have never changed a feul filter before and really dont want gas shooting all over the place when i do. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks.

Let me see if I can find a link for ya

But the main thing is, be patience theh 1st time,
it's easy as schitt, but can be a pain in the a$$.

Get the beast up on ramps, or just jack the drivers side up and use stands (you will be working under the drivers door)

You'll need the special tool to release the factory gas lines
(YOU MUST HAVE TOOL) it's just a plastic circle with a lip,
it also has a slit (openning) on it. The slit is so you can get it around the line,

Some say you must release the pressure, (I've never done that)

1st you kinda snap the filter out of it's holder to give you a little more room.

Then release the two factory gadget's preventing you from getting the tool on, they just get release with your finger, you'll see, it's just a little thing that goes from the line to the filter.

Then sneak the little plastic tool around the line, inbetween the fuel filter barb and the gas line connection, the Lip or smaller areas that sticks out like a hat, is the part that must work it's way into the factory connection and release the fingers.

I've found the best method is to use two small open end wrenches pushing against the filter, and pushing the tool
into the factory connection, hense releasing the fingers.
It helps to push in on the line
taken the pressure off those fingers.

Once one side is done, and you've drank some gasoline
then you can get the filter totally out of it's holder and have
much more working area for the other side

You DO NOT need to tool to put it back
Just make sure the arrow is pointing in the right direction,
and push one side in

Then snap the filter where it belongs and push the other side in

Hope that helps

Oh here I just found what I was looking for

I usually remove the fuel pump fuse then crank the truck. After it stalls, recrank a couple of times to relieve the pressure. You will still have some spillage, but at least it will not spray out in your face! I also recommend wearing safety glasses... I got some gas in my eyes one time and it burned like a ****!

You can use the spilled gasoline to get that nasty black undercoating off yours hands

Use the fuel pressure valve to release the pressure--it's much faster and easier. It's on the fuel rail, under the cowl area. It took me a while to find it the first time, but once you get it, you can release the pressure in a few seconds.

It's like a schraeder valve with a cap on it--like the tire stem valve.

It's just like the valve stem on a tire--the pressure (and some fuel) blows out. I took a rag and wrapped around the valve, then pushed in with a small screwdriver.

Any auto parts store. There are two kinds, the plastic ones and the 'scissor' type one (metal). I recommend the scissor one.

It's like $5 (give or take).

The scissor type ones also come in plastic. That is the one I have (couldn't find the metal ones anywhere). The plastic is a real PIA to use, so if you can find the metal ones I recommend it.
