Water injection questions

I am going to get a water injection kit soon. I have a couple questions.

1. Do I have to decrease the spark plug gap at all?
2. Where have you guys mounted the bottle? I was thinking in front of the windshield washer reservoir...
3. Where is the best place to install the sprayer? Before the throttle body, after the throttle body, after the supercharger and before the intercooler?

1. Do I have to decrease the spark plug gap at all? I would run the gap the same, since you have lots of boost.

2. Where have you guys mounted the bottle? I was thinking in front of the windshield washer reservoir...
I removed my washer resorivior to make more room, that seems like a suitable place.

3. Where is the best place to install the sprayer? Before the throttle body, after the throttle body, after the supercharger and before the intercooler? I would install the sprayer in the rubber boot or pipe, if you have one. That's the easiest place and where I ran mine. You could use a nitrous plate to make a cleaner install.

Basically, the injection kit will let you run more timing safely. You can run regular pump gas on the street with a lot of boost and more timing also. I doubt you'll get a power increase if you leave everything the same and just run the kit. We tested a Snow kit on my buddies truck and that was our results. Let us know if you find out something different.

How much more timing?
I am going to get a SMC kit. Their shop is 30 minutes from my work.
Since I use nitrous should the sparyer for the alcohol be close to that or before or after. I have the PSP plate for the nitrous.

Just make sure that if the nozzle is placed in between the blower and throttle body (vacuum area) that the kit has a separate shut-off valve to prevent siphoning. Some kits do not have that and the vacuum will pull the water through the pump any time the engine is running.

I had excellent results with water injection on a ProCharged 540. The power will come from being able to run more boost and/or timing. If you don't change either of the above there won't be a measurable difference in power from the water injection. You get some air temp reduction if it's added upstream some, but the main place it does it's work is in the combustion chamber by absorbing heat. I always used plain distilled water as it is a better heat absorber than alcohol; however, if you're a little short on injector size, the alcohol will give some added fueling and octane.

It'll have a switch to prevent siphoning.

Well, it is installed. It is the best mod I have done to my truck to date. 20 degree timing and 20/21 psi boost in 55 degree weather without any detonation that I could hear. All on 93 octane pump gas. It is cool to burn the tires at 60 mph!
I got the SMC kit and couldn't be happier. The man ho owns the company lives 30 minutes from me.

Hey easter
What mixture did you settle on or are you still experimenting with that. ( alcohol/water) What kind of alcohol are you running? Did you get the new SMC kit that is designed for supercharging?
Thanks Dale

I am using 100% alcohol and a lubricant. Steve is going to make a Lightning specific kit, but it isn't 100% ready yet.
The controller is the cool part. You can adjust how much the pump pums and the amount of boost you want before there is any spray. Also there is a solenoid to prevent siphoning.
It was just installed at around 11 pm last night, but it is awesome.

My best is a 7.243 at 96 something, but I think the 7.303 at 81 sounds more impressive.
