downshifting???

hey guys, I'm new to this whole posting thing, but been a viewer of the site for a long time, so I figured I'd finally start posting. Might be a stupid question, but just curious if its ok or not to downshift and drop down to 2nd and then 1st when driving to slow down, or better yet... to let everyone around hear her coming. Thanks fellas!

I cna't remember actly but I've read many places that the 4-2 kickdown on highways = worst thing you cna do for your tranny.

any hard kickdowns would be bad. I remember gregg or someone saying doing a 1/4th wot blast is better on the tranny.

the 4 to 2 is not very good for it, I don't think you should do it, but in theory, the PCM will prevent it doing anything too bad. If you want to test that theory, have at it. Replacing the intermediate band is $15 parts, $800 labor.

I downshift every day. I like the way it feels not having the truck shift in a turn unless I shift it. I always turn off the O/D first (4th to 3rd) then go to second.
