I use Hoosiers
But weather I'm racing with the F-1's @ 25psi
or the Hoosiers @ 19 psi

I launch from a dead idle each and every time
I never touch the gas pedal til it's time to go

Foot on brake
when it's time
I lift my foot from the brake and
I stomp that SOB hard and fast straight to the floor AFAP
Seems to work, 1.8-1.9 on F-1's, and 1.6-1.7 on Hoosiers
every time

Of course on the street, that don't work,
it'll just spin through 1st 2nd and 3rd

Man, I wish we could launch that way. Our track isn't prepped well, like someone else said, they use melted butter instead of VHT. Seriously, I can launch better on the street than at our track. I do my best launches on my concrete driveway (I think my neighbors hate me). If you bring the launch rpm up to say 1500 vs idle won't that soften the hit to the tires?

Are you using stock convertor or not?? Proper launching rpms greatly depends on that.

Launch RPM's

2200 RPM's for me, on Hoosiers with a PI torque converter, 1.63 60 ft. works for me, John H.

Just got my hoosiers slicks, so this is a very interesting post for me... On F1's (my 60's listed below) I used the same technique as Rob , but I would heat the hell out of em first...............

PEacE..................
