Which Rod / Piston Combo

I have been comparing rods, Manley, Oliver, Lunati and Carillo. The Manley rods are 1/5 20% of the Carillo price. I have had different people suggest JE or CP pictons. Any sugestions.

Manley and JE are kinda like the Cobra of cars. The Carillo are billet to my knowledge are much stronger than the Manleys, think of them as a Ferrari. I think unless you plan on building an entire drivetrain the Carillo are a little overkill. Personally I have not heard of a Manley breaking. That doesn't mean they won't.

The majority are running JE and CP pistons. If you want to go overkill, go with a set of Eagle Rods/Ross pistons... good to 1000hp a lot of people claim. I, myself, went with a set of JE .020 over pistons.

Marc, I currently use the CP pistons with ModMax rods. Modmax rods are the same thing as the Manleys and the Eagles (all made by the same company) but the Modmax rods come with the better ARP 2000 bolts. The HP rating of most rods is determined by the bolts; the Manleys and Eagle have about a 850hp rating, whereas the Modmax is rated for over 1200hp. There is nothing wrong with the Manleys, but with the ModMax you get the better bolt for no more money.

You can buy new/stronger ARP rod bolts from Summit and Jegs
