You do know that it has motor that is over 8 liters and an extra 2 cylinders. If it doesn't beat the Lightning and beat it by a lot, then I will have no respect for it. Come on that motor is huge! -Mat-

Yes, just image what it could do with a supercharger...

They used displacement, SVT used forced induction... It's the same comparison as a regular 5.4L pitted against a forced induction 4-cyl... Funny, in that case everyone says the 5.4L is far superior and doesn't need FI to do it... I don't really care either way. I'm not a diehard loyal of any brand other than American. I think the SRT-10 is cool, way overpriced, I'll say again, but cool...

what you do not want to do, is void the warrenty, on a Dodge.
believe me. milk that 7/70 for all it's worth. they are very specific about mods. even the ones they sell and install.

this is what is says on the mopar performance.com website, looking at the stage I, II, packages for the new SRT-4

This post reminds me of what happens over at the dodge site when the lightning guys come over to talk smack and get jumped on just as badly.

Seems a lot of you can't take some friendly competition.

Oh and btw, stock hemi's can be a 14 second truck if it is the same configuration as the lightning.

What a 14.99>??? Motor Trend just tested one, 15.11. Oh yeah, price as tested was $27,8XX. For the extra $1500 I will stick with my Lightning. So what do you Hemi guys say, "Yay I made it to the 14 second club!" -Mat-

I remember when the 03 Cobra was announced. I used to lurk on the Camaro boards, and what I read there was really funny. "I'll believe it when I see it"... and "My supercharged bored and stroked built engine with nos and an afterburner would still beat it"... etc. After being faster than mustangs for the last 30 years, they just refused to believe that Ford would make a mustang faster than a Camaro.
This seems oddly familiar.
I love my Lightning, but I accept that a truck that costs $20K more than mine just might be a little faster.

Thats because the same logic applies here.

Look at sports trucks produce since the 90's:

Cyclone/Typhoon
Lightnings
Dakato R/T
(I'm sure others but they're most likely to pathetic to remember)

How many different Lightning killer protypes has Chevy designed that fell through? It seems that Ford is the only with with enough ***** to push it through production. Everyone else promises us competition then fails to deliver. Of course we are all skeptical

Well my hemi ran a 15.11@91.3mph without taking off the hard tonneau, spare, tail gate, and I suck at launching. :P 14.8/14.7 is doable on a hemi. Which is still a good second slower then a stock L. I paid 31K cdn for my loaded hemi (everything short of leather), Lightnings go for 39K-43K cdn here.

Not trying to flame anyone, just stating the facts.

"i dont think you'll have to worry about getting the crown back either. dodge is going to make a HEMI V-10 in the near future to replace the Viper engines that they're putting in the SRT-10's. fords will blow engine after engine trying to keep up."

Friendly?

Cool

HI!... I don't have a LIGHTNING but a modded "N/A" F-150, reg-cab, short-box, auto with 5.4. The new HEMI trucks are a JOKE!!!!! There are lot of HEMI reg-cab, short-box trucks running around here in WINDSOR and I have spanked them ALL. Usually by 6 truck lengths or more. 345H.P, I highly doubt it.

No offense, but you have a built motor in your truck. It doesn't really seem fair to compare it to stock trucks. Why is everyone on this forum so critical of other brands? Not everybody wants a Ford and that's why there are alternatives. I prefer Fords, but I say to each his own.

HI!... Where are you getting, that I have a built motor in my truck????????? I still have the original stock BLOCK, CRANK, RODS, HEADS, and CAMS in my 5.4 with 142,000kms. I also still use the stock GOODYEAR EAGLE GT II 275/60/R-17 tires that were original equipment on my truck. Please get your facts straight before posting........
