Power

What's up Terri, long time no here from. After the the 3rd time Doug changed the TALON Website (in 6 Mos ) location I got tired of chasing it. I'm no expert but it sounds like you are hitting the limits and effiency of the Eaton and would greatly bennefit from a KB or Works 112. What's Up with buying Jim's Long Block, I was hoping YOU would build me a long block in a couple years. I'm driving the tires off mine ( 11,600 ) and you are still the only one to work on it. Good Luck with the new Block and let us Know how the numbers change if you do go with a new Blower.

Not sure where this attempted shot came from but ....

Sorry you were having trouble, I tried to make it as easy as possible for people to transition over the past 2 years....

The site has been TALONClub.com for 2 years or so. I finally took down the talon.svtlightnings.com redirects from 3 years ago last week.

Googling for Talon and dallas
or Talon and lightning
or talon and svt
or talon and ford

would have found you the link on the first page of results.
Or you could have used the link in my signature.
Or the link off SVTLightnings.com

Doug

No attempted shot intended Doug. Wake up every morning for a year and double click the Talon Icon on my screen. Twice in 6 mos I get redirected somewhere else and I just got tired of it. The last redirection tells me you are on vacation, when I click on the the Icon in there it takes me to the Talon site with pictures and events from 2 years ago. And yes I have personally given you cash to help support the Talon site. No Biggie, theirs enough Info on this site to keep me occupied.

Thats a strong motor. I wouldnt worry about it man.

Whats killing your power at this point is your Eaton. Time to replace the blower. It doesnt have enough unf to keep the pressure up with the cams, heads and long tubes. The added heat doesnt help either and it is summer time.

Im assuming you road race, so an after market blower is your ticket now. I would throw a 100 shot on it to cool it down and re-dyno if it were me

On the a/f subject:
I would recommend staying in the low 11.x:1 range. For the power increase, leaning out some isn't worth the risk.

11.1 is awfully fat. Hell, that 30 or so horses right there dropping from 12.0 to an 11.0. You still arent lean with a 12.0 with the proper tune. Going to rich can hurt things too as well.

do you ever see in hot rod where they show up with a dyno and ask people how much they make and then dyno it. NOBODY is ever right and the guy that runs great e.t that think he makes 500 hp ususally makes high 300. before i was discourage with a dyno number i would see if it performed up to my expectations and take it to the track.
the only number that matters are the ones at the track. if it were me i would test it before i spent another dime.

what i was thinking

Exactly what i was thinking. Plus 1500 miles isn't a ton.

I would have to say a KB on your set up with similar boost and a proper tune will put you where you want to be.

You are only running 13 lbs of boost.

You got the built motor .. Turn up the pressure....

If you figure 8lbs stock and a 4# pulley you are only running the same boost most every stock blocked modded lightning is running and less boost than many...

i lost 2.5 lbs. of boost when i put my long tubes and exhaust on. just because its a built block doesn't neccesarly mean its going to make more power. it will take on my power and hopefully be a little more forgiving to the thrashing we all seam to expect outta these things. but considering the cams and porting that was done i would be happy with your numbers. also remember a looser convertor will take away some hp as well on the dyno.

Thanks for the replies. I can't run high psi due to the heat generated in road racing. Stan has 500 race miles on his similar build. I have my eye on Don's Bolt He has the setup I want, built motor, KB, and fuel system pushing 630/750? I bought the JDM motor on the warranty and reputation.
