Back from track, upset with times.

Hey everyone, I went to the track today and was somewhat upset with my times. Well here they are...

60ft ..... 2.055
330ft ... 5.658
1/8 ..... 8.648
MPH ..... 82.16
1000 .... 11.273
1/4 ...... 13.525
MPH .... 99.71

My mods were everything in my sig except for the pulley and plugs.
This run was made in mid 60 degree weather. I was wondering why is my mph so low?? Does this sound right to you.

This was my run stock in 84 degree weather. It seems as if my mods didnt do much. Does this sound right to you guys. Why did i only increase 1 mph and time by only .2 even with such a drastic change in weather. Please help. Thanks in advance.

60ft ..... 2.055
330ft ... 5.764
1/8 ..... 8.818
MPH ..... 80.16
1000 .... 11.499
1/4 ...... 13.781
MPH .... 98.73

PS. Truck was pinging going down track today. About to get a reburn for pulley and plugs though.

I don't get it
Your saying that run was made with a Chip, JLP Cool Air, and a Thermostat AND IT WAS PINGING/ AKA DETONATING
NO PULLEY ? NO PLUGS ?
Bro if you EVER here pinging GET OFF IT IMMEDIATLY
Our Motors can blow within seconds during Detonation.
There's nothing worse you can do to our Motors than let it ping.

Sounds like your timing is too low, (that will cause low MPH)
And A/F is too Lean (extremly Dangerous, causes Detonation)
The Colder Plugs WILL help the Pinging

I hope you don't have it tuned for some crazy a$$ octane ?
Do yourself a favor and have it tuned for 93/94 pump gas,
Set the timing at a min of 16 degrees (I like 18)
And have the A/F VERY RICH

BTW
I run 18 degrees of timing 24/7 on my street program using Ultra 94 pump gas, and have never ever detonated or pinged

Jubelands,
For having no extra boost, your ET isn't actually that bad,
once you put the Pulley on, then the Cool Air Induction + Chip can show it's full potential.

Here's the worse ET I ever ran in mine,
it was only a few months after I bought it with min Mods,
My MPH's weren't great either (due to low timing AT THE TIME).
Now I'm 10 programs later, a second in a half faster, and the MPH are up by 10

I'm 66
Gator is 61

Thumbs up

Damn Rob,
I wouldn't want to bracket race against you. Assuming that was a 500 light your runs are scary .

No UNFORTUNATLY thats not the case Nasty Wendy

I wait til it turns completely green
I light up a butt,
or something
and when I get around to it
I Floor it

I never worry about my reaction time,
I use to, but it's been many moons since I've done bracket racing

But I promise next time at the track,
I WIL NOT wait to see green.
I guess it's time to work on my reaction time hu

Ahhhh I see. You guys have the same system as we do down here. A perfect light would be .000 . I don't much worry about r/t unless I'm bracket racing. My test and tune runs have 1.222 reactions sometimes.

Was Gator scared of you or something because he wasn't cutting .500's .

Actually when i ordered the chip from sal i told him i live in california where we get really bad 91 octane gas. I tole him to tune it for an aggresive street tune but take into consideration the bad 91 octane feul.

About the pinging situation; my truck has been pinging ever since it has been stock. I dont know why but it just does. I'm planning on pulling the chip today and sending it in for a reburn for the pulley and plugs. When i get the chip plug and pulley put in i am going to have it dyno tuned right away, hopefully that will get the tune perfect.

Why did my truck ping stock? Any help would be appreciated.

Get over to the dyno ASAP and get a pull done to measure A/F.. Send that dynosheet along with your chip back to Sal so he can back it down. 14-16 degrees of timing is all youre going to see with a street tune for our gas. Run 100+ octane and let Sal turn the wick up on that, which should be your Race/Track program. You should be more conservative on your street side anyhow.

When you hear it ping, get off the throttle. Dont go back into boost until this problem is resolved.

An aggresive tune probably means the tuner adds timing. Lots of timing and low 91 octane aren't good. Tell him you want a safe tune and see how that goes. If it works well, send it back to raise the timing a degree or something.

My stock 2002 ranger and 2002 excursion ping with 87 octane. I have to run 93 in both of them to stop it.

yeah something seems pretty wrong, and you dont wanna drive much less wot your truck with pinging if you can avoid it. but actually those times arent too bad, really it seems like the only thing thats gonna help your ets some if the ftvb and the chip. I woulda hoped for a little more, but im guessing if you fix your tune issue, youll fix your et issue.
