Question Soft Tonneau Question

Does anybody know the Ford part # for the tonneaus for our trucks?

I bought a 2000 Lightning a couple weeks ago and I'm looking at getting a cover for it. From what I've seen here and at NLOC it looks like a lot of people recommend the OEM cover.
I filled out an online parts request through the dealer that I bought the truck from and got a response this morning but it was for a styleside F150 instead of flareside. That price was $244. I called the guy back and got a quote for the flareside and got the price of $331. I had talked to someone else at the parts dept. on Saturday and got the price of $367. Kinda worries me that the dealer doesn't know that a L is flareside not styleside and they give me a dif price every time.

Anyway the guy I talked to today said the price was for a snap style cover instead of slide rail style. He says this is recommended because he's had a lot of complaints about the slide rails breaking. I was under the assumption that everybody here w/OEM covers was using the slide style not snap style.

Bleh maybe I should just order a cover from somewhere else.

I have the one with the rails and I love it. I think it looks cleaner then the snap kind. The only issue I've ever heard about it are that the corners can start to bend upwards.

It looks very close to the stock ford one.

If that's right... I might order that one today. Sure beats the $495 I saw for a Access Rollup cover over the weekend. (Spike TV commercial during the Power Block )

Good Luck,
I got lucky and bought one from the classifieds. Just picked it up yesterday and it's nice! I can't afford a fiberglass one right now and it will do until I get the $$$. The guy that sold it to me lives in MI and I in OH. He met me half-way and we exhanged $$ and cover. Only $150 and it was on his truck for 4 months. this thing looks brand new and just barely started the corner thing.

I think they are on fordpartsonline.com.
I got the part number from them to take to the dealership to verify my order. I was willing to pay anything for it as I really don't care for the looks of any other cover - hard or soft.
Make double sure that they order and receive the SNAPLESS version of the ford cover.

I've gone there... unfortunately you get this message:
We are currently experiencing technical difficulties and will be down until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We will not be accepting any new orders at this time. Thank you.

Make the parts guy get out the catalog and flip to the bed cover part. This is their accessory book they have. Get the snapless cover from them - be prepared to pay $440 or so.
I love my cover and will never have any other.

Hmm.. lets try this again. (First post didn't post?)
I found the OEM part # over at NLOC so instead of calling the parts dept. and getting a different price on a different part # every time I figured I'd give them the RIGHT # and let them order that instead of pulling one outta their a**.

In case anyone else is interested:
Part # XL3Z83501A42BAA
Storm Gray
~ $289

I should get it this week, hopefully it'll fit.
Thanks for the info & pics guys.

8/27 Update - I received my cover today and installed it. In case someone searches for the OEM part # and finds this thread the updated part number is 2L3Z83501A42BA.
