Smile 16lbs of boost!!!

parts have been ordered! 6lb lower pulley, with a 170 degree thermostat, and some NGK TR6's...also a Magnaflow cat back and some JBA headers..my current mods a 2lb upper pulley, volant cold air intake, diablo chip, and a shift kit..so hopefully i will be around 500hp..im taking it to a place to be installed, and dynoed, plus im having the chip reburned... but do you think it will be safe to run the 2lb upper, and 6lb lower! that alot of boost! but the man who sold me the pulley, said as long as i run the thermostat, plugs, and reburn the chip for the 16psi i will be running...i should be ok...sometime around X-mas i will putting on some new rims..(gunmetal with crome lip) and lowering it 2 inches..plus i will need some new tires to keep this baby on the ground!! thanks for listening to my long *** speach!

Do you like to go to Vegas? You are really pushing your luck on a stock block. But if the gas is decent where you live, and the tune on the chip is conservative you might get away with it. I would probably be more worried about destroying the tranny with that much power.

my truck used to run that set up and had a bad problem with detonation. I am back to the stock lower and 2 lb upper. The person who had is set up like that had to build a trans for it to hold the power. He just happened to be a trans mech. so it was no big deal for him.

I'm trying to tell you, with the right tune its not too much for a stock block, but it is too much for a stock tranny. You will need a Monster Box for that set-up.

a 4lb lower and a 2 lb upper make more than 6 extra pounds - i can't find the formula to figure out what it is right now though

16lbs... HMMMmmm....

Give it a few weeks before sumpt'n breaks!

Since your all talking about this... I have a 4lb lower. Which is pretty safe from what you all have said. If I look at upper pulleys, am I flirting with danger? If I get like a 2lb upper, or say like a 1.5 if they make em, or even smaller, this will basically cause my blower to work harder? Spin more? Obviously more boost, but I think from what I have read, upper pulleys tend to work the blower to hard?

Ive been running the 4# lower and 2# upper for two years now with no problems, BUT!!, I have to run 100 octane fuel or higher because I do get detonation when the temps get in the mid 70's or below. Im running an agressive chip (JDM J69) and this thing is a beast! I could run a more conservative program, but I love the J69. I just keep lots of Toluene or race fuel on hand!
Rest of my mods are in sig......
