WTF? Crooked bed or crooked axle?
WTF? Crooked bed or crooked axle?
Like most of you dudes, when I first got my L, the first thing I noticed was that my bed was not aligned with the cab. The bed was leaning over to the passenger side about 1 to 1.5 inches. Naturally, I took it to the dealership who repositioned it and aligned it perfectly with the cab...problem solved right? WRONG!
Today while checking up on my stereo work I decided to walk over and check the gap between my rear fenderwell and my 22's and guess what I found? The gap between the fenderwell and wheel/tire is smaller on the passenger side than the driver side....about 1 to 1.5" inches to be exact. The bed is now aligned perfectly with the cab, but the difference in gap between the fenderwell and tire on the right and left side is approximately the same amount as the bed was crooked before being realigned.
So what's wrong with this picture? Either the bed is truly crooked or my axle isn't set dead center? OR could it also be that when my truck was c-notched, they f*cked something up? (I highly doubt this is the case, since the difference is identical to when the bed was actually misaligned with the cab) You would never, ever notice it unless you actually took a ruler and measured it.
Any thoughts?

Try measuring from the top on the wheel well lip to the ground on both sides and see what the measurements are. If they are different then it is the bed. Do you know anyone that has a bodyshop that could take some measurements for you to make sure the axle is in spec>??? -Mat-

Oh well, at least it's not noticable...that is, until you measure it.

This is a common and easily fixed problem. Do a search and you'll find all you need to know, including the size of the torx bit required for the bed bolts.
