Wheel Cleaning

Not so much for my L but my g-friend has a honda accord and the wheels have almost built up a lot of dust and rust colored dirt. I know normal stuff from AUtozone probably won't work to get this off. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try some Bleach-White. It comes in a pump spray bottle at your local car care place. It's been around for years and works well. Warning....don't get it in your eyes!!!

Being the compulsive person I am, let me tell you what I did before I sold my Lightning. Weekly, yes weekly, I would remove each wheel and scrub the inside (back spacing) with a soft bristle brush and Dawn dish washing detergent. I would then wax each of them. I now do it on my wifes Jag, and will more than likely do the same to the new Cobra. Dawn will cut almost anything...

I'm with you brutha I take my wheels off everytime I change my oil(3k) and clean the insides. Bleachwhite sounds good. I'll try the dawn...I will be using it anyway to strip the old wax off my truck when I wax it tommorow. My friends who work at a dealership say the detailers use a special acid to get the crud off of wheels. I need to find that stuff.

Hey ogieogilthorpe,
try eagle one etching MAG cleaner.
You can buy it at your local auto zone.
This stuff works. Try it and let us know
how it came out.

Do not spray bleach white on alum or chrome!!! I used simple green on the inside of my L wheels last week and a soft bristle brush. Just spayed on full stengh and let sit scrubbed, then repeated twice. Last round spray some quick detailer on them and wipe down. Makes for a cleaner appearance. I too will be doing this every oil change now. I love the "new" look. Now just to get the stubborn tar spots off.

i just did this yesterday on my wife's saab. the brake dust is terrible on the front wheels only. they were getting discolored. i used MOTHER'S wheel cleaner. comes in can.worked pretty good.

on my lightning, i too, remove the wheel and tire and clean the inside of the wheel with wd-40. works great. then i used a product i pick up @ Honda motorcycle dealer, honda cleaner polish. comes in a spray can. i spray and wipe the inside wheel and use it all the time on the outside of the wheel. you can use this stuff on EVERYTHING. you can wax the whole truck. inside outside, detail the engine compartment and it does'nt leave any wax residue build up. try it.

best thing for tar spots on paint or wheels is just a plain piece of toilet or tissue paper. just keep turning and it will come right off with no hard scrubbing. if you use a wet cloth or something like that it will just smear.
