How many have ordered the chip/pulley combo and it worked the first time?

Did most of you who got this combo have to keep sending your chip back to get it tuned correctly.

More specifically. What are my chances of getting a good tune the first time I get the chip?

I would definitely get it dynoed after the install but I am wondering if I need to plan on sending in the chip multiple times. I want a very conservative tune that I can drive year-round and take long road trips (i.e. it needs to handle changes in elevation: sea-level --> 6000ft)

Mods would be 4 or 6 lb pulley, FTVB, S&B Powerstack, 91 octane in Cali, and Reno and 92 octane in Seattle (most of my time will be in Seattle).

Can I count on this setup to be a reliable cross country vehicle?

Thx

Back when I had just a chip and pulley it worked fine the first time. It's usually when you ask for a really aggresive program that it needs tweaked.

----Damned booze: edited for clarity---

I don't want to hijack the thread, but it seems that you could be a candidate for a PCM reflash.

I'd like to see more data on how well the reflash has worked after a winter and some significant mods, but assuming it works, it seems like a solid alternative for you if you don't want to continually reburn a chip.

my combo works fine, its just too rich, im going to send back for a reburn and see if it can get better without an actual dyno tune

mine ran fine, but it ran better when JL dtatlogged it so i think it it always better to take it to your tuner to be right on, but they should be able to come close.

I will probably go to Bremerton Sept 19th for street legals.

Tomorrow I am going to Pacific Raceways. I have not been for awhile since the weather has been a tad bit warm.

I have both a JDM Superchip and a JLP diablo chip w/
a 4# pulley and have not had any problems with it
from the beginning.

No two Lightning's will run the same on the same program.
Thats because our Beast's Performance is effected drastically by A/F, Timing, Climate + Octane used.

Potac,
Ask some L owners in your area what timing they're running
and have it set @ there. Keep it Super Rich, and run two zone cooler plugs and you'll be fine and trouble free as long as you don't WOT it 24/7

GOOD LUCK

BTW
Me, I'm a nut, (on my 10th Program in a little over a Year) BUT IT'S PERFECT NOW

My diablo worked fine the first time w\2# upper then when I added my 4# lower it worked good too. I have sent it back one other time to get a more aggressive tune (up the timing to 16deg). Very happy with all the tunes.

good luck

I have three different(tuners) chips for my 01 L. One has been 'spot-on', one is OK--fine, really, and one has had some issues....................
