Extra Low End torque Killed Top End?
Anyone know whats killing my ETs? Here's the deal, my 99 Crown Vic with an Eaton blower out of the box ran 14.3 @ 95mph... I added a metal intake tube to replace the stock rubber one and a Lightning heat exchanger courtesy of Gator (thanks again Gator!!!) and my ET's went down... the car would only do 14.4 @ 94 on drag radials and 14.6 @ 95 on street tires.
Now posting on the Vic boards everyone says I'm crazy for complaining the car has too much low end torque... apparently its a good thing. But my top end is now shot, I spin out off the line and than I have to stare at the *** of a stock crown vic all the way to the finish line because there's no way I can catch up.
What would create such great low end torque: the metal intake tube or the heat exchanger.... just curious?

PS. How do I fix this... and actualy run faster with my mods.... my whole rear bumper is black from rubber bits. I spun out more off the line than I actualy hooked up. It was embarrasing.

Weather
Was there more humidity (& heat) the day you ran after the mods? Can't see where these two mods would do anything but help all the way down. Perhaps you have a vacuum leak from installing your intake tube. The heat exchanger is gonna give you a denser air charge and the bigger increase in power, but like I said, it should help more than just off the line.
Good Luck,
Mark

Ya like Mark said,
neither Mod should have effected low end torque to a point
where it became a problem (or slowed you down) ???
And what are we talking about here, 1/10th
I'd guess more at this point that the heat exchanger helped to the point that the cooler running S/C now makes a little more power (which you want) and as a result, you now have a traction problem. You seem to agree that it won't hook all of a sudden ?
WHAT SIZE DRAG RADIALS ARE YOU USING?
WHAT TYPE OF STREET TIRES ?
AND MOST IMPORTANT, WHAT PRESSURE ?
That's where I'd be looking
I've cut 1.8 60ft times on the stock F-1's @ 25lbs of air pressure
and I cut 1.6 or 1.7 on 28x10 Hoosiers at @18lbs of air pressure.
(next time, I'm going to try a little less air)
At 18 they look like this

A matter of fact I drive on the parkway to the track on them
and then make my passes without touching the air pressure.
It looks to me like I can take plenty of air still out of them.
You know plenty of us are cutting great 60's and great ET's
without spinning problems. Schitt when I juice it on top of my regular Mods, my guess is I'm launching with mid 5's maybe closer to 600lbs of torque, and I don't spin the tires one bit cutting 1.6 60ft times
I say you got a traction problem, NOT A TORQUE problem

it was hotter and definitely more humid at the track.
I played with the air in my street tires form 40psi to 30psi back to 40psi. At first it would spin like crazy at 40psi, I let the air out, made two 14s passes, than I'd spin again. I raised the pressure back up and it did OK at 40psi. The ricer I was talking to at the staging lanes was like, dude let it out all the way to 20psi... but I didn't want to pop my tire, they're too expensive to destroy.
here's my time slips from before the mods and after the mods:

my friend Charlie raced my car a few times and actualy got me some decent times the first time, but on the second one he spun all the way thru 3rd gear, loosing to a Marauder. like I said it was embarrasing.
