I could only hope my L would shiz out a plug. Then I could get the 03 heads and not worry when I add more boost to it. Ah, if it would only take and big healthy plug crap. That would be CRAPtastic. lol

I was in the local Carquest auto parts store yesterday waiting to be waited on so I was thumbing through a sale flyer that was on the counter. In the tool section I noticed a special set that repairs spark plug threads in the 5.4's and V10's. I would say that if the aftermarket is making a special tool set for something like this then it must be a very common prob. Ford should stand behind every one of these.

I repair V8 & V10 engines alot with Time Serts. Ive never had to repair a Lightning, they usually go back to the dealer but if you out of warranty this is an option! jsut my .02

Most cases, they will only replace the affected head. You can stomp your feet and state it wont solve the problem for the other side and see what they say.

Your second option is.. Since you launched one, loosen a plug on the other side and go drive around until it pops. Youre guaranteed 2 new heads then.

WHat is the difference you guys mentioned in the 03 head? I just purchased an 03, but am not aware of the "new" head design. Thanks.

03s have 8-9 spark plug threads while the earlier Ls only have 4-5 threads.

I have Time Serts in my heads.

Love not having to worry about blowing a plug!
