Built Motors, Are you happy?
Built Motors, Are you happy?
I blew my motor up last Sat and am planning on having a new motor built with decent rods, pistons, studs, oil pump with stock heads and decent valves.
Who built yours?
Are you satisfied?
What would you do differently if you did it over?

I too, am interested in this query. I am in the market for a built motor also...although there is really no rush at this point.
But who is the best to go with, I am in the northeast so the big 3 are all close. Is that the best option? Do they offer warranties? And can you find anything for less than the neighborhood of $4 grand?

JDM built my motor and just about everything else on the truck.
I am very happy with the way it came out and if I could do it over again, I don't know if I would change anything. If you are looking for a strong motor program JDM is a great place to look. Jim is putting out some very good numbers with his built motors and tuning programs.

swede check out houston performance. I would bet money they are building more modular motors than all others. They are not real big in the lightning community, but have been huge in mustangs for years. check out what people think of them over on the corral.net

Johnny's built short block is $3500.00 - $3800.00 and is the same one he's been running 10's on for years
Im having my motor built locally here in SoCal... Motor goes in this weekend.
He has built several lightning motors, and even runs one in his own truck, which hasnt let lose thus far
Freight on a motor is a killer, I chose the local route. I like the local presence to assist in the future..
