The most evil combo is Ross Pistons mated to Eagle Rods. Youre good to go to 1200+ hp.

Another thing is, youre far better off going with a used 5.4 L shortblock. You will less likely have any piston slap compared to working with new shortblocks. Some vendors can over come the piston slap issue by using Probe pistons...

As with Dale, out local engine builder is a master tech for Ford and a club member in our local lightning chapter. He works very close with crower... Im sure Jim @ JDM can attest for him as well.

Its your money, so research your shortblocks wisely and carefully.

I am happy as a kid in a candy store!!!!!

If I was going to do it over I would have replaced my 01 block with an 03...the piston slap is causing to many questions......

They stop asking when I take them for a ride!

When you put the synthetic in it, the motor will quiet down.

If it dosn't I am getting the 03 block for the winter project.

Herb

P.S. when you get a min give me a call.

I run a JDM lshort block and have had zero issues with it since I installed it.last year.I have done 2 events with it and numerous open trakcs and still going strong. The componets are about the same [everyone is gettingthe same the ones]so I feel that it is up to the builder on which one will last.Remember you can have the best of everything but if it is not put together rite in means crap!Stan

I'm happy with my JDM long block. It's a 2003 engine stuffed with the right parts and CNC ported heads along with cams.

Not completely broken in yet, but it's getting there.
