I have a 4lb lower and 2lb upper and I frequently blast up to 140+, I didn't buy the truck to be a track queen, have fun with your truck do whatever you want.

Have you checked the spark plugs? Do you have a wideband O2 sensor or egt gauge?

Hitting 140+ daily is the only way to drive.

Sorry Nate

Hope it's back to normal soon

My Opinion

Drive it like you stole it
Mod the schitt out of it "on the stock lower"
and if it blows
shove it down Fords A$$,

or strip it, part it out, and collect the Insurance

Driving at 140 for a long period of time with major boost and juice
SHOULD NOT hurt the motor "OR" effect the wrrnty
Ford should have no prob repairing this
hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe

Nate take it to an independent shop with a 4 or 5 gas analizer and have them look for HC (hydro carbons) in the cooling system
this will comfirm any exhaust gasses getting in to the cooling system. This is a 100% fool proof way of saying the head gasket is bad. Are you loosing coolant. Does it run rough at start up and then clear up?

Heres another angle on this the pah, pah, pah! might be, you hitting the rev limitter as the trans is slipping. What are the rpms when this happens? and how does it feel? is there a feeling of slippage?or loss of power that comes and goes? If this is steady check the TSS to OSS to see if theres slippage.

Are you getting any codes? or have you checked? if theres coolant in the exhaust you may have even wiped out the 02s and are running to rich or lean due to bad readings from the feedback
systems. lots of varibles here...need feed back!

Scott

You're head gasket was leaking before?

I'd say yes. Where else is it coming from? I've had the problem since I put my engine back together in April. What is happening is the head keeps on lifting under boost and blowing this gas from the cylinder into the cooling expansion tank. I lowered the boost and took the valve covers off and retorqued the head studs. That took care of it for awhile. The best thing to do is R&R the engine and use the new head gaskets from Ford. So far I haven't had the problem of the cooling system being pressurized under boost since I took the engine out last Friday and replaced it with the new Ford gaskets.

I would really notice a drop in power when the head gasket leaked.

I'm not saying this is your only problem, but it is one of them. When you have the engine out you could look at the cylinder walls to see if they are scored or see if the valves are burned.

The only way coolant and oil can mix is with a blown head gasket or crakcked block/head. Its cylinder pressure that makes power, so a leaky head gasket will kill performance.

Sounds like his head gasket to me. Mine began leaking arounf 5,000 miles and i didnt take it in until 12,000 and got 03 heads as replacements. I was leaking oil though, not coolant. If you see black stuff in your expansion tank, its your head gasket.

Head Gasket

Part of the "new & improved" heads I got from Ford Parts Online was a new head gasket. It is improved over the old gasket. If you have to replace yours, make sure you get the new ones.
