Question Squeaky pulley bearings/need belt etc..

The two pulleys (not the idler) that sit on the front of the engine directly under the blower snout, are starting to worry me a little. I think i have too much tension on the belt, and that i should get a correct length belt (preferably the "gatorback") and a new set of bearings, or completely new pulleys.

Can anyone suggest a good replacement part for the pulleys, and also, if anyone has the correct part # for the belt (running 6lb of extra boost) that would help a lot also.

I have tried the search engine in a lot of different combinations

Anybody?? I want the correct length belt especially. The one i bought from a vendor is way , way too tight. I heard a lot of guys didn't "break off the little tab", and are running gatorbacks out there.

I have been driving the L a lot lately and want to get this corrected asap.

Gaterback 4080685 or 4080690 are the correct belt for your setup. Your problem is not from the belt tension but a common problem with the bearings in those idlers under the blower snout (and the other 2 for the ACC belt). I sell the Metco and the Billteflow idlers for replacements. They both use better bearings than stock but the Billetflow is cheaper and comes in colors Clear(silver), Black, Blue, and Red. If you are going to replace I would go with the 100mm idlers and the 4080690 belt.

Don't be fooled, I have the new metco idler pulleys and the bearings are the same ones used in the stock pulleys. I learned you can just knock the old bearings out of the stock idler pulley and install a new set from a local bearing house much cheaper. Just bring a bearing with you so they can match it up. As for billetflow pulleys, I have no idea what bearings they use, but by the pic above they seem to be the same as stock.

I also tryed prying the dust cover off the bearings to regrease them and this is a very hard thing to do. More than likley the dust cover will bend slightly when removed with a small pick, this will cause the cover to have a slight gap and the grease will escape threw the gap when it is spinning on the idler bracket.

The Metco uses a Swiss bearing (a little better than the stock bearing) and the Billetflow uses Canadian bearing that is better than the stock.

You know more than I would about the quality of the bearings, I just know that the codes on the side of the stock bearings and the bearings in the Metco pulleys are the same. Which would only lead me to believe the bearings are identical.

I would really like to think Metco would have put better bearings in there replacement pulleys.

If you are talking about the earlier Metco idlers, you would be correct. They changed bearings because of problems.

Try pulling the pullies and cleaning behind them...mine were packesd with dust at about 50000 and squeaked somewhat...I cleaned them and they actually spin quicker....I still have the stockers on my 01 with original pullies...
