Weekend Mods....

It was time to change the Trany fluid, so I figured I may as well take advantage and change a few other things. I installed the Factory Tech VB and the B&M pan as well. The valve body is great, shifts are quick/firm...but not violent like the my old chip's added line pressure was.

After I was done, I drove it around and topped the fluid off. I noticed that the "bogging" down my trany did when I let off the pedal was gone...its like a new truck. Which is good because I was getting worried about the slight vibration that went along with the bogging feeling it made.

Konig,

The pickup on the new filter appears to be the same as the old one (stock?).

I know there is a different filter required when using the Ford 4x4 pan (longer pickup tube) but don't know about the B&M pan depth vs filter clearance and would hate for you or anyone to smoke a transmission due to a potentially incorrect filter.

The B&M instructions tell you to use the stock filter. The 4x4 pan uses a longer intake like you say, but B&M said to cut the excess off if you have to use the 4x4 filter. I wouldnt think it would matter much, if its in the oil, its in the oil , ya know?

How hard was it to put the valve body in....did you use a torque wrench...? Gregg is sending me a full race valvebody so I can put in this weekend.......Its supposed to shift really hard...but with my 2800 converter I wont know till its in......the pan I got holds like 9 more over stock..thus limiting my ground clearence....

wow, thats a super deep pan. Is that the Mag-Tech one? I would never be able to fit one that deep with my suspension being so low. The valve body is easy to put in, you just take out all the bolts holding it on, and put the new VB in its place. Be careful though laying under it when removing, the worm trail on the top of it holds a decent amount of fluid.

What kind of oil pan is that by the way?
