anyone hit the rev limiter in there Lightning?

I was on the highway coming out of a toll booth yesterday, crusing to 15-20 and I hit it. The truck felt like it downshifted to first like normal, and for the first time ever it kept bounching off the rev limiter and red lining... I had to let off and I got back on it later and it drove fine. I just dont know what that was all about.
I've made plenty of WOT runs at idle, rolling going 15, and rolling going 40 and that's never happened b4. any clue what happened last night? thanks, Shane

I have experienced the same thing couple of times. Cruising anywhere from 20-40, I punch it and it downshifts and right when its about to shift the truck stops for a sec (hitting the limiter I guess) and then it'll shift. Doesn't happen to often though.

Could it be my chip?

Happened to me twice....went straight to 6000 and hit limiter, I had to lift real quick.....had my chip reburned and hasnt happened since...chips sometimes degrade and lose parts of their programs is what I was told......

But if it happens again, i will talk to my tuner. Thanks, Shane

With mine it was in the chip. Sal fixed it for me on the last update I did. It was trying to shift at 5400 which is well under the regular rev limiter, but would shut off for a split second right before shifting into second gear. Sal can fix it for you.

maybe you had your overdrive off and it hit limiter cause it couldn't shift into fourth. Thats my guess.

I was coming out of a toll booth, going like 15mph. OD light was not on... But I wasnt even near od is my concern. I was going 15 so I floor it, and It kicked down to first and wouldnt go back into 2nd. And it didnt do it again my next WOT going 60 it took off, and shifted, and pulled like normal.... But all day yesterday I didnt touch the OD button, (I don't anymore) so the light was off, and i drove the truck like it would without changing anything... (od was on) thanks, Shane

YUP!

Indeed I have hit the limiter. Had the 1-2 piston seize in my valve body. Pounded the throttle down (with about 14 PSI of boost and some "electronic work"), and thought to myself "My, that Eaton is sure screaming loudly today". At about 6200 RPM or so, the thing tagged the limiter and finally shifted into second. Awesome rear tire barking ensued, but probably not worth the wear and tear on the rods.

Flipped a small switch in the glovebox, and the thing would bounce off the rev limiter all day at around 5250 RPM until the throttle was lifted.

Stuck piston in valve body = BAD.

I frigging hated that Rev Limiter soooooooooo much when I bought the L .
It was sooooooo hard coming from a Cobra that I shifted daily as high as 7200 - 7500. Red line STARTED AT 6900 RPM I believe (I had the limiter moved to 7600)

When I bought the L I would hit that limiter left and right all day.
Did that for the first few weeks, after that I couldn't take it anymore and bought a chip and took care of it.

I aint never hit that stinking limiter again

I talked to JDM today and I told them what happened, and I said I was on my 26" slick when it happened. Justin said it shouldn't happen again, it's just the computer is programed for a 28" stock tire, and I was either spinning the slicks or something wierd happened in the computer. But it wouldnt shift. The truck drives fine and It shifts fine now at full throttle. I thought it had something to do with the slicks on... Thanks, Shane
