Question Intercooler fluid

My new KB arrived and I will be complete with the install this weekend.

In an effort to ensure zero internal damage (my first KB seized) I lifted the intercooler and manifold to remove all metalic shavings - had to drain fluids.

Does anyone know the brand name of our intercooler fluid. I understand that it is different from typical rad fluid.

Please advise!

Thanks!

Dan

It is a specific brand - that I do know (I think, believe it or not GM first developed it - this is the rumor). The name is the million dollar question.

Does it freeze in Ft. Myers?
If not, then use dist. water and Water Wetter.

I wish it froze down here, I see easterisland wasn't kidding about the DI water. Learn something new everyday.

As long as the temp doesn't drop below freezing you don't really need the anti-freeze, but if you went that route you'd need to add some water pump lubricant to keep your i.c. pump from seizing, as well as some anti-rust (I believe most brands of w.p. lubricant contain anti-rust). This is what I used when my i.c. started leaking so I wouldn't ruin the motor and cats by pumping anti-freeze (very corrosive) through it.

P.S. I also threw a pint of denatured alcohol in there for good measure.

Motorcraft Premium Antifreeze and water 50/50 mix
- or -
Motorcraft Premium Gold (yellow color) Antifreeze and water 50/50 mix

For best results
4.2 oz's of Royal Purple and water for summer, add 15% Antifreeze for winter.
