My First On-track event

I have been huge into cars as long as I can remember. I've gone to everything from drag racing to monster trucks. Since I was 17 I've always had 2 vehicles and some of the time I've had 3. I'm pretty big into cars and even bigger into Fords. Anyway, this weekend I participated in my first Road Course event and I feel like it was the first time I've ever been around cars. I now have a new outlook on vehicles. I can not believe how much fun it is, I am now addicted. I was thinking tonight as I was cleaning up my garage, I think this Road Course event at IRP is the most fun I have ever had in my life, there may be other things that were more fun but I am so blinded my this new adventure that I cant remember.

If anyone is remotely close to an event, I strongly recommend attending, you'll thank yourself. I've been drag racing and it was a rush, but now I couldnt care less about it. Why have soda when you can have a beer? Everytime.. everytime I got out of my truck after a trip around the track I jumped out and said, "Man that was fun!!"

Grey, you have captured my sentiments exactly. To the tee. 100%. Felt like I wrote it myself.

One thing I would add -- open track events are minimal downtime. Unlike dragging or autocross, you get a solid 20-30 minutes of nonstop adrenaline. It's incredibly exhausting, but you just want to rest up and get at it again at the next event.

Hitting the traps at 110 is cool. Hitting that 40 MPH cone turn just right is satisfying. Entering a corner at 115 -- and making it through -- is orgasmic. Running on the high banks at California Speedway at 130+ -- downright surreal.

Like Richard Pryor said in Silver Streak when they boosted that Jag:

"Why settle for a jerk*ff when you can have pure p*ssy?"
