Dumb Rice
all of us at www.clubsi.com hate rice as well. just a few weeks ago som new guy posted and he didnt even last and hour before the thread was 2 pages of harasing, owning,etc.... We come across as ****s but were all kool in person
VTEC technology is very cool. I won't knock it. To be able to adjust valve lift and timing with engine speed is awesome. It can easily add 10-20% more power across the board.
Problem is, when you only start with 130HP, what's the point
Ha, ha, ha...

Well I have Vtec
in my new(to me, its a 2002) Acura TL. I bought it for the ride, performance and the fact that a lot of these things drive for 250-300k miles without a problem. I love my L but I doubt that it will go as long as the TL without a problem...
so I say, Vtec is ok..

I'd have to say the technology I'm looking forward to see which supposedly will appear in the up coming corvettes is the cam-less engine...no more need to replace, just re-program the computer. It's fun having a 300+ Horsepower honda, but definately not worth the time and money I've had to put into it. Hoipefully I can find a 2000 lightning that isn't $22,000
Theres a 99 L here in town for sell that is a bank repo, and it's very tempting, but I've heard from many many people that it has been very mis-treated...but for around $15,000 is tempting. 50,000 miles.

I think imports with high HP like that prelude are cool. But I dont like all the body kits and wings and such. A friend of mine has an Si. He used to have 17" white rims and a full body kit. I convinced him to take those off but I still have to work on getting that carbon fiber hood of his off.
Nice Prelude !
Mis-treated = not good
But on the under hand ..... $15k for the truck, unless you can talk them down more. Then just order a tranny rebuild kit and new short block with cams and your good to go with more power then it started with
Alot of the technology that they put into smaller displacement engines is very interested and begs the question, what if they applied more techology to the American v8's instead of throwing more displacement around .....

TrboH22- When you mentioned the corvettes, are you referring to the system in which all the valves are solenoid controlled? A few buddies and I toyed with this a little on an old engine we had laying around, but were unable to get it working properly. From the moment I first heard of this technology though, I've been dreaming about the potential. Completely adjustable, computer controlled valve timing. Eat your heart out Vtec

Just think want a bigger cam? Just re program the computer to be open longer, yet you could have it idle completely like stock....I think it would be unbelievable! Vtec is great technology, and is the most known but almost all manufacturers are making an almost identical setup such as Zetec, VTI, there is many.
