How often does the Intercooler Cycle?

Was told by the shop that the intercooler does'nt run all the time.
Have read on other turbo boards it's do to smog regulations, is this the same with our superchargers.

Mine stopped working all together, so I am trying to find other possible reasons for the intercooler pump failure other than the pumps motor just wearing out. My truck only has 50K miles.

From the factory, the intercooler pump runs whenever the truck is running.

Sorry 'bout your luck.

Actually Speedy, the I/C pump is PCM controlled, and is turned on/off based on the IAT2 temp. Factory setting turns the pump on at 60 degrees, and off at 50 degrees. When the truck is stone cold, it usually takes the pump a few minutes to come on, but it should always be on with a warm engine. Before you condem the pump, I'd pull the IAT2 out of the manifold and make sure it's not fried, I've seen quite a few melted.

On a 99, it should be on the drivers side, towards the rear, May be a bit hard to get to.

It's in the manifold not the mid plate right?
