Ford is Speaking out @ Wrrnty's + Mod's, and covering all bases
Nothing New, but done tastefully.......
Who thought they didn't listen to us, hehehehehe
I must admit, Ford did this very tastefully.
How bout putting a nice article in the SVT Mag from our Wrrnty Analysis Manager. Then we can talk about how WE KNOW people that buy SVT's are weekend warriors "or worse", We know they race them, we know they Mod them, hell thats why we build them, they're Hi-Perf Vehicles.
But lets make sure we go on to say that slicks will void your tranny wrrnty, and underdrive pulley void the electrical components, and S/C pulleys void the S/C and or motor,
and how Chips and dangerous A/F's can and will cause Piston, and motor damage. Of course they're very careful to use the work "could" void.
But the good I got out of this article is it's extremly clear that it does not AUTOMATICALLY void it. Yes we knew that, but here it's in writting, which tells me in many cases Ford would absolutely have to prove to us the Mod's caused the problem, and not simply have some SVT Rep walk in, look at your Computer terminal and say, SORRY NO WRRNTY, CHIP WAS USED
AND WE ALL KNOW THAT HAS HAPPENED TONS OF TIMES

Yea i read that. Also, around may, i posted a letter sent to all the dealerships warning about chips/aftermarket computer devices.
What cracks me up is, SVTOA really pushes SVT owners to get out and drive their vehicles. Im kind of wondering, those who do get mechanical failure from such an outing, are they covered under warranty?

Good Question Mo Fo
and yes I remember that post.
Like I said, it's nothing new but what really stood out is how
they covered EVERYTHING from cooling system
Modification, to Guages, to Slicks.
(and of course the usual pulleys, chips, etc...)
But NOWHERE did it say WE must prove the part
DID NOT cause the failure. That tells me it's on them
to prove IT DID, and not a simple looksy to see if it's been
chipped so they can say NO WRRNTY

Ive been very lucky.
Ive gone into two dealerships who i havent dealt with, with full blown mods. One being when i needed a left rear axle seal. There was rubber in the fender wheels from the slicks and truck tracs dangling off the springs. Guy didnt say a word.
Got heads replaced with full blown mods. I guess obvious failures that they are familar with, they dont sweat you. Most of the dealerships enjoy seeing the truck with the gauges and stuff on it. I usually goto a non svt dealer.
Dodge is stepping up to the plate and offering SRT stage 1 & 2 mod packages that retain the factory warranty. I would love to see SVT match this in their future lineup.

Also keep in mind that the SVTOA is NOT Ford, it is a privately owned club that Ford initially helped get started, and now they simply have Ford's permission to use the official names and logos and such.
I like the fact that the same issue has an entire page attributed to vendor ads such as Vortech, Steeda, Paxton, So-Cal Speedshop, Paul's High Performance, etc.

if this guys who wrote the article is employed by ford, then he writes this article representing fomoco, but i'm not sure if it's makes it official because it's not published by ford, but svtoa.

(AND I QUOTE)
Many of us are weekend warriors that can be found
at the local track on the weekends.
As Automotive enthusiasts, we certainly can appreciate Performance machinery.
That said AS FORD EMPLOYEE'S
we all want to do the right thing for our customers.
Thats why it's important to have a easy to understand wrrnty policy.
I'n my oopinion, this is clearly the rules, according to Ford.
But Ford was very crafty about how they did that article,
They first put it in SVOTA, to leave that grey area of "if" this is them talking and "if" this is the official rules. Then they go on to tell us how "they" also like to race and also enjoy performance, bla bla bla.... and then they carefully cover every angle by talking about Slicks, Guage's, pulleys, Cooling Mods, Chips, Juice, Turbo's, S/C's, etc. Then they say how the Cooling System, Head Gaskets, Rear, Tranny, Pistons, and Engine "CAN BE" damaged from aftermarket parts and it "MAY" void the wrrnty ON THAT REPAIR. They really didn't leave any stone unturned except --> WHO IS RESPONSIBLE TO PROVE AN AFTERMARKET PART CAUSED THE DAMAGE.

and,,,
I remember reading in the 02 Lightning brochure that they- encourage performance driving w/L and suggest to take it to Bondurant driving school. Also they say how the L can be dragraced at the 1/4mi track and then haul 800lbs in the next sentence. They also said that their goal was to provide us SVT owners w/yrs of spirited, performance driving.
If they sell us on the fact that these trucks are made for performance driving, then they should stand behind their product at warranty claim times and not look for the easy way out.
That article seemed to say that anything from air filters, mufflers, even different tires could be reason enough for ford to dump on you.SAD

Automotive manufactures are strange Subaru was giving a one year Licences to all WRX owners to SCCA which would tell me I need to use it for that purpose BUT they were denying warrantys of broken Transmission and such because they were racing them. They had a small bottom line which stated that if the car was used in any type of racing event that the warranty would be voided is that hypacritical or what????

A lot of people on here modify the truck, causing it to break, and then take it in expecting Ford to fix it. This is prolly why I have so much trouble getting Ligitemate warrenty claims taken care of.

mods + no problems = you still have a warrenty
mods + problems = you have no warrenty
You see, by that logic the mods do not void warrenties the minute they are installed.
I'm so glad my truck is totally stock
, and whats more amazing is that it is in the 12's stock
