Honestly, I was on my way to a dealership to look at a Sonic Blue 03 cobra and to talk to a manager about trade in on my L... So I pulled the chip and went for a half hour drive to this dealership...
*note* I've been thinking recently about trading my truck in on something "more sporty" or some kinda 6 speed...

For once in a year I seriously mention the thought of trading it in and it adds 20 horse!!! Just kidding it didnt get any faster, but seriously the truck has never driven this good! The truck drove like it's never driven b4. It didnt shift crazy hard like it does sometimes with the chip and the valve body. The SES light was off, i got NO vibration on the highway like I get sometimes sence the install of the traction bars. When I come to a slow stop coming up to a red light sometimes I would get a little vibration..
(I think the rotors need to be replaced.) But for some strange reason, I got NO wobble or vibration while coming to a stop. And I've said it b4, the truck drives Great on the highway... And I love how it sounds even at normal driving but high rpm's.

Today I test drove a used black 03 cobra and I LOVED IT!
I was offered a great amount of a trade in value and my payments for the new car were less than $200 a month...
But I told all 3 dealerships I'd think about it and get back to them in the morning...
The last few days i've put a lot of thought into it (trading the truck in). More than i'd like to admit cause I love my truck! And the conclusion I came to is I can't part with the truck just yet. We've went over all the perks in owning a Lightning and I'm just not ready to give it up yet. Thanks for all your help, Shane

 

If you really want a rustang, you might as well wait for S-197 now instead of settling for the ugly a$$ 99+ body style. Trust me...it will be worth it.

 

If i dont get an X plan on a new cobra by Sept, ill be waiting for the 2006 model. I already have $$ secured for the Gen 3 L. I will not part with my Lightning for anything, It has been utimately, the best automotive product ive owned

 

If i get anything else it will be the Gen 3......

 

Took the Black Beauty out for a little death ride last night myself Shane.
Did me some nice stop sign WOT smokers.
Some rolling foot to the floor 15 lb boost blasting runs.
A little weaving in and out of traffic,
and I got to tell you, I started having
serious 2nd thoughts about the Cobra too

Hey who know's maybe i can find someone to chop my roof off the L and make me some kind of removable T-Tops
or something
It's really the Convert feeling I'm after.
Now if I can only figure out a way to give me control of the shifting, I may just forget all the Cobra Thoughts a while

Ditto, but then I had to run up to Lowes to get some stuff and the thought quickly left.

The 03 Cobra is a sharp looking car. And the #'s impress the hell out of me. I just don't know if it's me. And untill then I don't want to give up what I have to figure that out.

Another thing that sold me on KEEPING my truck was last night when i was in the passanger seat and the sales manager at the Ford Dealership was driving my truck. I dont know how to explain it, but seeing someone else drive my truck... (almost made me jealous) And then he kept complimenting me on my truck. (my gauges he loved, the shift kit he liked even, the interior he said was spotless... So inside i was thinking, "yeah, it is a pretty impressive truck I am trading in" So the conclusion I came to was keep the truck for a little while longer.

sounds like the salesman talked himself out of a sale. Keep the truck until you're actually bored with it. The '03 cobras will only get cheaper. I know what you mean about someone else driving YOUR truck... I felt that way when I sold my 99 xlt to a buddy of mine, seeing him drive it around town made me miss it... but the lightning took care of that feeling
